Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.
Thanks Denby,Yes I haven’t been sleeping well due to the bone pain.Last night though the house was shaking in the gale and I could hear things being thrown about. How is the weather in your area ? I’ve made some scones so waiting for those to bake.I have got so lazy re cooking since I’ve been on my own.xx
Very powerful gusts here as well between the sustained strong winds. I'm in South Northants. I was so pleased that I bit the bullet earlier this year and had my rotten wooden framed single glazed windows replaced. They would not have survived this onslaught. The river in town is very high. I'm on higher ground so not at risk from flooding. I was concerned that my son's motorcycles might blow over and dent my car again. Its bonnet still wears the scars from the last time it happened in October 2022.
It's the River Tove. It sometimes bursts its banks and floods the roads around the Greens Norton area. There's also a minor river called Silverstone Brook but I've only seen that flood once in 30 years whereas the Tove has done so at least 10 times in the same period. Northampton is more prone to serious flooding. Not sure how it is there today.
Oh, Tove as in Towcester? Can't say I know your area, but our daughter's school in Bedford town centre was flooded out during the holidays in I think it was 1998. Someone died when the river sunk their boat in Northampton that time.
Anglian Water built a lot of new flood defences after that
Thanks Ray
The Tove burst its banks last night, flooding parts of the High Street in the usual places, but deeper than usual. My son said he saw a few parked cars with water almost halfway up their doors. It was too deep to risk going through. Apparently the Nene has burst its banks in Northampton more severely than usual.
