Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.

  • Hi Jane, I reckon it took about 10 years before I stopped wishing I could talk things over with my mum, and I remember a moment when I felt overcome with grief 8 years after she had died. Mums are huge in our lives so let the tears fall, then its cuppa and cake time. Sending hugs Hx

  • Thanks H,I bought a magazine and some Belgian buns earlier.I don’t feel guilty as I’ve lost a lot of the lockdown weight and I wasn’t fat even carrying an extra 2 stone.Love Jane x

  • It’s looking Autumnal already with the false Autumn.I hope you all have a good Bank Holiday.I’ve been right at the top of the house where there is a sleeping platform. It would make a good bedroom for a teenager.Thought I would try to clear it up a bit so the estate agent can get a better idea of the space.A lot of items can be rehomed as wherever I move next will be much smaller.Love to you all Jane xx

  • I love the colour of this plant. My aunt grew it and gave it to me.She is a good plantswoman.Trying to get the rooms clearer before the estate agent visits tomorrow.Sent my sister some before and after photos of the top floor. She said I had done an amazing job but there has been no offer of help.I haven’t seen her for over 7 weeks.I am really disappointed as it’s in her interests that the house looks as good as possible.I don’t understand what has happened as she was a tremendous support when I had cancer. My strict aunt wants to come down the week after next to help me.It still feels humid here in Somerset.Love to you all Jane xx

  • I feel for you. We've started the process of selling my Mum's house & in our case my brother (who is doing all the paperwork etc) seems to be dragging his heels, so we now have to pay council tax on the property. I'm the one looking after the house. Families eh? Apart from all the 'firsts' since the loss. The grief comes back to bite, doesn't it. Very best wishes.

  • Thanks Teasswill,I’m sorry your brother is dragging his heels. It’s the same with my sister.I’m working so hard in the house and garden and it’s too much. The grief is hard too but I just have to get on as best as I can.Finishing the cleaning down to the garden level this morning. The estate agent is coming over this afternoon.Love Jane x

  • Thanks for the hug Denby, much needed.I’ve finished cleaning downstairs.I really don’t think I can do much more physically. My back is hurting a lot.The garden is not that tidy but it could be worse.I’m beginning to wish I lived in a bungalow.Got to squeeze in lunch and a shower after I’ve tidied my bedroom.Love Jane x

  • Thanks for the hug Teasswill, much appreciated.I’ve done all I can do with regards to cleaning and tidying.I’m not expecting a good valuation but crossing my fingers.Love Jane x

  • By the time you read this Jane I hope you'll have had a good experience with the estate agent, and can put your feet up with a really good cuppa and sweet treat of some kind. You really have earned it.

We realised back in 2016 that we wouldn't be able to manage stairs daily much longer, oh so glad we got this house and have managed to get the lovely builder who did the conversion of the double garage to downstairs L-shaped bedroom and en-suite/doubles as hall loo. Upstairs, which is smaller even without this, is now just guest space/storage, but we haven't had to pay bungalow premium and have got to live in a convenient spot with good local services. [round here all the non-social housing bungalows are in out of the way places]. Chief downside is having to cover the car against extremes of weather by season. Pretty small price for all the upsides. So just a thought for your future move.

    Lots more hugs,

    Denby

  • Hi Denby,The estate agent visit went well. She loved the light, views and potential.Apparently people are moving down here from London with money to spend. She will be in contact with a valuation after she has talked with her manager.I feel a bit more optimistic but it’s a waiting game. The good thing about the house is it’s versatile and you can easily adapt rooms to suit your situation.Your house sounds ideal.I will be looking for a smaller version of this one if possible.I’m keeping my options open though.Time for tea and cake now and a well earned sit down.Love Jane xx
