Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.
Hi,Another boiling hot day here.Sorting through mum’s notebooks as I intend to type her research notes up and add them to mine.I’m finding it hard though, she has written such sweet comments by them that her personality shines through. It’s also sad as I can see clearly the deterioration in her writing caused by numerous strokes. Her dementia is evident too as the more recent notes are jumbled and confused.I hope it’s cooler next week I haven’t felt well enough to get on in the heat.Love to you all Jane xx
Hi All, I can't get on in the heat either.
That's despite our assiduous blind-drawing, early am door-opening and then closing again etc keeping it to around 27 indoors. That's when our outside thermometer, yes I know it's not in a Stevenson Screen but it is suspended below a reflective 'silver' gazebo, is showing 35-37 outside.
I have to have short spells of effort, eg empty/reload dishwasher, then stop and sit down again. Swimming earlier was blissful as the pool building is air conditioned.
Jane are you a touch typist? Not being myself I found Dragon/Nuance worth every penny. Bought for Mr D's benefit as he types slower than me, but found it transcribes my dictation perfectly well too. A real Godsend for recent PIP renewal for daughter.
Stay cool everyone.

Hi Denby,Sorry you are not getting on in the heat,it’s so draining. The temperature in the kitchen has gone down to 30 and it’s 26 in the hall.I’ve hand washed a delicate cardigan and put it outside so it will be interesting to see how long it takes to dry.I’ve got to see whether my electronic typewriter is working.I haven’t used it for a while but it’s had a lot of use since the 1990’s.I can touch type but it’s much easier on the typewriter than the phone.Fingers crossed for cooler weather next week.Love Jane x
It’s even hotter here today, nudging 36 in the kitchen.I’m trying to tidy up a bit in the room I use as an office. Not sure I will get far as already melting.A bit of music spurs me on though and takes my mind off the current situation with the house.Take care everyone.Love to you all Jane xx
Hi Jane, I watered half my extensive pot collection very early this morning and took dog to the woods. Indoors by noon. Ventured out again at 4.30 to feed my animals and it was very very hot. 34 degrees on thermometer outside my front door. All my animals are drinking twice as much water as usual, so plenty of buckets to fill and carry. Who needs to go the the gym? Between times flopped on sofa with yesterday's paper and some tv. It is Sunday, day of rest, after all. Put your feet up I reckon. H x

Hi H,A view from the garden just now. Some of the shrubs have not fared well in the heatwave. There are so many parched leaves it looks autumnal already.I need to get out and tidy up a bit once it cools.I feel for the animals in the heat,it must be tiring for you caring for them in this.Next doors cat has been sheltering under my bay tree outside the kitchen.I did a bit of tidying upstairs but it got so hot I’m back down in the lounge with the fan.Take care love Jane xx
Hello Jane, no had sun best part of the day and very warm. However we had some distant thunder with a few spots but no more than that. I shall be glad to see the back of this hot weather far too exhausting. I don't need to use a hose for the garden but even using a watering can on the pots and containers is a chore.
Take care Chris
Hello Jane, Greetings from a tropical Walton Le Dale. We had a short downpour this morning but still cloudy and humid. Golf this afternoon very humid 24 degrees but dry. Forecast tomorrow is for heavy rain and possible thunderstorms. Stay safe and cool. Garviv

Hi Chris,I’ve found the heat exhausting too. It’s raining heavily here now.I used to often water my neighbours pots when she was away. She has a large terrace and it’s covered with container plants.I don’t have any plants in pots at the moment.I might get something beautiful for a nice pot at the front of the house. When our houses were built between 1910-1913 they had small front gardens but they were removed I believe in the 1970’s.Now it’s just cars and weeds out at the front.I try to keep on top of the weeds but it’s hard as I have to wait until there is space to work.I’m keen to improve the kerb appeal.Jane
