Hi, I’ve had 3 doses of BCG I’m suffering from kidney pain, my nurse tested my urine and there was a lot of white blood cells in it, the nurse seems to think it’s ok and that it’s a sign something is going on, I’ve not been given any antibiotics, has anyone else had this experience? The pain in my kidney is really bad x

  • Hi Julie1812,So sorry you are suffering with kidney pain. It’s possible you may have an infection.White blood cells can be a sign of infection but can also appear when you have inflammation. How do you feel apart from the pain ? Jane

  • Funny enough I am having bcg treatments but last one was April due more next week ..I test my water with dipstick and quite often there are white blood cells in it .. I don't really have a bad pain but sometimes get niggle in side .. hope you'll soon be well xx love Tina x

  • Hi Jane, thanks for you reply, tbh honest I had 3rd BCG yesterday and really feel unwell today, extremely tired and in a lot of pain with my kidney x

  • Thank you Tina x

  • Hi Julie,Could you get some medical advice from out of hours drs or 111 ? I’ve no experience of bcg treatment but have had bad kidney pain with infections in the past.Love Jane x

  • Hi Julie I had 6 induction bcg treatments ended in april then I had rigid cystoscopy on July 13th thankfully all clear Pray I have my next 3 treatments starting August 18th,25th and September 1st .. I got on with the treatments ok usually had mine early morning and had discomfort for about 6 hours .. I drank at least 2 litres of water and to be truthful I have kept doing this every day ..I was diagnosed with cis which is high grade ... I have to have cystoscopy every 3 months so this is going to be a long journey  but hopefully it will keep things under control xx I'm trying my best to keep a positive attitude and reading  the comments on here have helped and so many tell their personal stories willingly giving many others encouragement take care love Tina xx

  • Hi Tina, thank you, it’s very reassuring listening to people that are going through the same thing, don’t get me wrong my family have been great but they don’t understand as much as people on here do, the advice you get is great.
