Operation went to plan I believe, should be jumping up and down with glee to tired! Had bladder, ovaries and right kidney removed. Storms nurses and most of staff lovely, nasty experience on the critical care unit must of been nightmares but felt so real left me frightened couldn’t wait to get on ward 15 urology ward so so different. Has anyone else been caught up in a nightmare that seems determined to stay in my mind.

  • Good Morning  . Good to know you have had your op and now back home. Just wishing you well with your recovery. I am sure others with experience of this will be along to offer some advice and support. Best wishes.

  • Hi Julin,It’s good to know you are back home.Sorry you have been frightened.I didn’t have nightmares but it was hard to tell whether conversations were real or dreamt in ICU.Rest up and take it slowly as you will feel exhausted to start with.Take care love Jane xxx

  •    you are right, it’s frightening. My heart though a major wobbler in icu, and the person on the next bay died. A bit of a tough 48 hours.

  • Thank you, was scared, once on the normal ward was better, (scared bits still in back of mind just need to keep telling myself it wasn’t real.) not on a cancer ward was on the urology ward as that’s where my cancer was. Been back in hospital yesterday to have stent removed. Agree about tiredness all things can only improve with sleep and rest

  • I thought mine was scared, lucky as no one in the beds round me your experience must of been horrible.

  • Glad you're out and at home. ICU was a nightmare, but in reality, for us as while I was bringing up bile (my guts decided to go on strike - ileus - which I half expected but my husband didn't) someone in the next bay was making peculiar noises and not coming round after their op and my husband had a heart attack.

Fortunately everything turned out well in the end.

Hopefully you'll be able to put your experience behind you too.

    All the best,

  • It’s was no picnic !

  • Hi Latestart

The more I hear of other people’s experiences of ICU I realise am just a wincher Tired face.  Pleased to hear everything turned out ok in the end

  • You're not a whinger, mine happened over 3 years ago and a lot of dust has settled since then! We laugh about it now but my poor daughter had to cope with 2 of us who had big operations within 10 days (husband's was open-heart) and run her business.

    She's a tough girl fortunately.

You'll feel better too when time passes.
