After finding a cancerous tumour via cystoscopy on the 30th November and a CT scan 17th December I eventually contacted GP because I’d heard nothing regarding results, the waiting was really getting to me!! She was able to tell me that scan showed nothing else of concern but no more real detail. I then contacted the hospital to chase up when TURBT op was going to happen only to be told that all operations were cancelled due to COVID! Urology department also confirmed this is the case. Gutted!! I have now decided to have it done privately but it still means a wait of about 6 weeks. Hopefully I can keep myself from stressing out too much! If anyone else is experiencing the knock on effects of the pandemic, I feel for you, it’s blooming horrible!! My heart goes out to all those who are suffering from COVID too, what a world we find ourselves in!
Thank you xx hope you and hubby are OK thinking about all my new found on here going through worrying times xx we will get there
take care everyone
Good luck tomorrow Tina. It’s been a couple of weeks so hopefully they are going to tell you what’s what so that you can move forward. I think our brains are wired to think the worst!! What are we like! I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best. Stay strong and positive. Jan xx
Hi jan I had my appointment this morning with results of turbt the consultant told me I have CIS and have to have six doses of BCG in the bladder and monitor me with more BCG in months to follow as well as Cystoscopy ..I'm glad I have been looking into treatment of bladder cancer and reading other people's experiences on here,it helped me deal with the diagnosis a bit better instead of being really frightened .. I think all this worrying, stressing and waiting has made me go numb ...I don't know a lot about CIS hoping someone on here can give me their experiences of it and the BCG treatment ...hope you are keeping ok love Tina x
Hi Tina. I’ve been thinking about you today and wondering how your appointment went. I’m sorry to hear this. I’m sure one of the fantastic people on this forum will be along soon and let you know their experiences of CIS and give you support and reassurance.X
Hi Tina Hou. CIS ( Carcinoma in Situ) is one of the more common types of BC. It shows as like a rash on the bladder lining, rather than a tumour. Initial 6 treatments of BCG is standard. BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) is an immunotherapy treatment which triggers the body's own immune system to fight the cancer cells and helps prevent recurrences. A flexible cystoscopy will then see how well it has worked and determine any next step. Never had the pleasure of it myself as I went a different way, but from being on here for a while, we know it is hard to predict the side effects. Some people sail through it, others have a hard time, but most seem to be somewhere in the middle. Hope this helps rather than making you even more worried. Best wishes.
Hi again Tina. If you look through the group conversations, you will see one called The Journey so far by WallyB. You both seem to be at a similar stage waiting for BCG. You may like to join in with that conversation and compare notes. It always helps having a buddy going through this at the same time. No restrictions here on joining other threads. Best wishes.
Hi Tina. It is just so stressful not knowing what’s what but as you say, reading about other people’s experiences on here helps to get your head around things. You have a plan in place now and I think knowing is half the battle. You can move on and nail this. Hopefully with treatments well underway this damn COVID will have eased off and you can start getting your life back. You can do this, stay strong and positive. I’m still waiting, some days cool calm and collected and on other days I’m just in total panic and thinking all sorts!!! We will get there xx
