please help my oncologist secretary has just phoned they want to see me and my husband tomorrow morning at the radiotherapy department I’m absolutely worried sick
Hi Linz17 I do think they should have explained why you need to go in it’s not fair to do this to you. I am wondering why you would be told to go to the radiotherapy department? Perhaps it’s a last minute tweak to the treatment plan and they need you to sign consent forms? Bev x
Hi Linz17 yes it’s Dr Haston, it could be a change to your treatment plan after viewing the PET scan results or something they need to check into before your treatment starts. This happened to me, I had a start date for treatment all set and my planning scan showed an enlarged lymph node in the groin. I had to have two biopsies as if it had been cancerous then they would have had to have tweaked the dose of radiation. I just think they could have given you a bit more information rather than leaving you like this. Bev xx
I’m hoping it’s something along those lines especially because they said the radiotherapy unit!! I can see the urgency because my treatment starts Monday it’s just worried me how they said John aswell . I though if it was bad the nurse might of phoned me before hand . Just cant shut off now!! Xxxx
Awww Linz17 I totally agree with Bev, at this stage I don’t think this should have been dropped on you with no explanation. Were you ever assigned a specialist nurse or colorectal nurse? I rang the nurse that sat in with me at my diagnosis a couple of times with questions when I received an unexpected appointment in the early days & she was able to explain things to me which in turn eased my anxiety. Hopefully it’ll just be a tweak to your treatment plan with it being in the radiotherapy department but I completely understand your worry.
Nicola
Yeah I have a nurse it turns out I know her and her family . I tried to ring her immediately but I’ve not been able to get hold of her .. I did think if there was anything to worry about she would of let me know . I’ve only met my oncologist once so I am trying to convince myself it’s just to tweak things .. go through things before Monday but as you can imagine I’m just thinking the worst possible scenario Xxxx
