Hi all,
literally staring to lose the actual will! Read-up about pre treatment and it said to have a dental check up, this was applauded as to my research by the specialist nurse. Turns out (after visit to dentist) that I need to tooth removing. After numerous back and forth calls - to decide when best to have this done- turns out my pre assessment and chemo start days have been changed! No letter, nothing. Thank god I contacted them to ask about delaying the tooth treatment!!!! Absolutely shocked and the incompetence. He even told me that no letter had been sent about the changes. Completely fuc***g fed up to the back teeth, pardon the pun!
I have had no complaints with my actual medical treatment but there have been admin errors with incorrect dates for appointments ( took 3 letters to get one appointment correct) & my case was missed off the first weekly MDT meeting at which my treatment plan was to be discussed as my scans couldn’t be downloaded. The admin errors caused me a lot of stress that I didn’t need. Sorry to say but this seems par for the course. I now always double check things with the hospital. Shouldn’t have to but it’s best to.
Hi
my frustration is that, if I had not contacted them to tell them about my bloody irritating tooth, I would have missed my pre-assessment and first chemo appointment. A total waste of their time, let alone mine, which whilst being an inconvenience, is irritating beyond belief!
I’m so over this.
UPDATE: the troublesome tooth has been removed, repeat, removed! There's nothing more relaxing than having a part of your body ripped out. LOL.
All set for my pre-assessment/new patient day tomorrow. So glad it's finally here. Hopefully they will tell me how long I will be hooked up to the drips etc. Read that it can anything form 15 min to 9 hours!
Thank you all for your support BTW, I know that I'm very angry at the moment and may come across as a bit grumpy. Honestly, I'm not a nasty pasty!
Hi Midlands20
Glad the tooth is sorted, one less thing to worry about. I remember having 3 fillings replaced before my treatment. I was more anxious about those than the treatment at the time. I have severe dentist anxiety after a bad childhood experience.
If you’re having Mitomiycn which I think you are, it’ll be surprisingly quick. The prep can be a little time consuming but the actual chemo administration takes minutes rather than hours.
Not long now until treatment starts and you’ll be on track to ridding your body of this disease. Hard to imagine but the time will pass by pretty quickly.
Sx
Hi Midlands20,
Great news about the tooth!! One less thing to worry about eh?
Even better news that you’ll be starting treatment tomorrow, it’s daunting I know but once you’re in the rhythm of daily appointments it’ll pass surprisingly quickly. I totally agree with that you’ll find the chemo infusion will be quick but the prep may take a while, these drugs are an expensive commodity & are not ordered & mixed until your bum is very firmly in that seat, they also give your vein a thorough flush through with saline prior to getting your chemo.
Getting a diagnosis such as this is traumatising & we all go through a whole range of emotions including anger, you’re not judged here.
Good luck for tomorrow but I’m sure all will go well.
Nicola
