Hi everyone,
We have received some feedback that you would like a more recent recommended travel insurance thread set up.
The lovely @latchbrook set up the original 'recommended travel insurance thread' which you can still view here. Just so you don't have to go through the different pages of information to find recent recommendations, you can find the most recent experiences in this thread.
Please note, all recommendations are from Community members and are not recommendations from Macmillan. Please do your own research as to whether the companies are suitable for you.
This thread can be used to update the group when you've found an insurance company that provided you with cover at a reasonable cost from a recommendation you found here or elsewhere.
If you could put a little bit of additional information eg. whether you got a single trip or annual, cover for a cruise, worldwide, etc along with anything else that you think others would find helpful when they are researching that would be great.

I was told that if life expectancy is more than 12 months it is incurable if under 12 months it is termanial
Evan can I ask if you are on any treatment ? Have you been told you are terminal with x amount of time to live ? This could make such a difference when it comes to travel insurance. I am incurable, years ago people would have said this meant I was terminal, but terminology has changed such a lot, and incurable does not mean terminal anymore. I am sorry if this does not apply to yourself, but is so important to get the wording correct when applying for insurance.
Try Insure Cancer. They are expensive but cover everyone. When I was shopping around for my partner who is having successful immunotherapy & no one would cover him, a very nice woman told me that he wasn’t ill enough for them! I eventually got an annual couple insurance for Europe with Insure & Go for £1700. No one else was interested. I put the details in online for a quotation but didn’t buy the policy & they phoned me back & asked why I hadn’t gone ahead. When I said it was too expensive he took £200 off.
Hi
3 years ago I was diagnosed with my lung cancer, & that I was told it was terminal, they couldn’t give me how long I will live for other than it’s between 1-7 years that people with my condition records have been that they lived between these times.
I‘ve had chemotherapy & immunotherapy, but just continued then with immunotherapy for a long time but that had to stop that as I got emphysema as well and the immunotherapy can sometimes make your breathing worse to which my breathing have.
All that they can do is monitor my tumour by having the ct scans and touch wood it’s stable, in the beginning of this it was touch & go with me I was on treatment within 2 weeks of been diagnosed.
if my tumour starts to get bigger then it means I go back on chemotherapy, not sure about the immunotherapy again.
I’ve explained to the insurance companies I’ve phoned but everything I reckon is read off a script as i get so far by answering the questions they then they say I have to stop you there, as we can’t go any further, they can’t give me the reason why which is very frustrating. I always tell the truth as I have other health issues as well. I’m so desperate for a holiday abroad. As I said a few companies will insure me but they want to charge you the earth, I can’t justify paying that.
Update - just been online and l have single trip cover from SAGA for me and my husband for £336.
Insurance with refused cover for me. I am 3c ovarian cancer at diagnosis 3 years ago. I am in remission. I am so well l haven’t had a scan for 6 months! I take oral chemo maintenance Niraparib. I have no other health conditions apart from a stoma as a result of surgery 18 months ago. It doesn’t make sense!
