Hi everyone,

We have received some feedback that you would like a more recent recommended travel insurance thread set up.

The lovely @latchbrook set up the original 'recommended travel insurance thread' which you can still view here. Just so you don't have to go through the different pages of information to find recent recommendations, you can find the most recent experiences in this thread.

Please note, all recommendations are from Community members and are not recommendations from Macmillan. Please do your own research as to whether the companies are suitable for you.

This thread can be used to update the group when you've found an insurance company that provided you with cover at a reasonable cost from a recommendation you found here or elsewhere.

If you could put a little bit of additional information eg. whether you got a single trip or annual, cover for a cruise, worldwide, etc along with anything else that you think others would find helpful when they are researching that would be great.

  • Have you used this company?

  • I have just taken out a travel insurance policy which I am very happy with, so thought I would share with you all.

I have taken out a one year policy with InsureandGo. It covers my cancer, and has cruise cover as well which I know people are finding expensive. It is for myself and my partner, and was £197 for the year. I know the price would have been more if I was undergoing chemo, which at the moment I am not, but it does take my hormone treatment into account.

  • Thanks for this as I will need cruise cover next year

  • That’s very good- can I ask what hormone treatment you are on? I am on phesgo which I am not sure what it is classified as and last year my insurance was very high.

  • Does anyone know of an insurance company that differentiates between maintenance immunotherapy & treatment chemotherapy etc?

  •   I am on anastrozole and zoledex. I was getting some very high quotes from different insurance companies, so was very pleased with this.

  • I have had no job getting a reasonable quote, if any quote at all, so anyone can update on theirs I would be interested. I have had 6 rejections and one for nearly £1000 for one week in Europe which is ridiculous

  • Hi - I had this problem because I had an outstanding appt with ENT.  I am on a 15 month waiting list for a non-event.  That was with w3.insureancewith.com and everyone else that asked about future appointments.   Then I got a letter to confirm I was on the waiting list and it was classified as "routine".  Game changer! Then someone here suggested co-op travel insurance.  They had much simpler questions and came in at the same price as insureancewith (£330) for a week in Europe.

  • I've just renewed through payingtoomich.com. 113 pound form the year for two of us European cruise cover

  • This is excellent! Most insurance companies do not cover you if you declare ‘terminal’ cancer. I have always thought this to be unfair. But this company actually states, “We can insure you if you have terminal cancer, as long as the prognosis is more than 6 months from your return date and your GP has confirmed that you are fit to travel”. The price is reasonable too. You can’t normally get travel insurance for a year. Did you phone them to take out their insurance?  Thank you for letting us know.
