Hi everyone
im due to have my first chemo session tomorrow. It has been suggested that I use a cold cap to retain my har but I’m struggling to make the decision. I have very fine, soft hair which is not very thick. Has anyone had a similar experience and what would your advice be? I’m not overly worried about hair loss so views either way would be very helpful

Hi there, how did you get on with the cold cap? I used it from dec 19 to April 20. I had my hair cut to shoulder length beforehand and I kept most of my hair but went a little bald on top . I only used to wash my hair once a week and let it dry naturally, I boughta couple nice hats to disguise this and no one would ever know as I didn’t tell a lot of people. I now have about inch n half hair growth on top which is not the same texture and a bit bouffanty Which looks a bit odd when I leave my hair down, so tend to clip it up . My hair is thinner now but still no one would know I’ve had cancer . Hope all goes well for you x take care . Fuzzball
Maybe not as emotive as I am male but far from trying to keep my hair ( pointless with the chemo I will be having ) I am raising money for the Royal Marsden by offering to post my “ baddie” pics on Facebook if we get enough donations.
My wife has bought me a beanie hat with a light up Xmas tree to wear for my New Year’s Eve chemo session
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
