Hi,

So about 16 months ago I had an operation to remove a lump from my arm, thankfully the biopsy came back benign. Now they have found another small lump again, having surgery next month. However, this week my scar had started to bleed and scab up, it was fine until then and was fully healed. Is this anything to worry about. I over thing absolutely everything!! It’s a bit sore too and I worry as I’ve been out in the sun.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to see that you've already had one lump removed and now you need to have surgery to have a second one removed. Can I ask what sort of skin cancer it was thought you might have? I see that you have joined the general skin cancer group but we also have one for melanoma if that was the type of skin cancer that it was thought you might have.

As none of us are medically qualified it would be best to speak to your skin cancer nurse specialist (SCNS), if you've been assigned one, or, if not, your GP about the fact that your scar has started to bleed and scab.

I had it taken out last February, got to go back in on the 19th. And im not sure really, I don’t know loads about skin cancer, it is in the family though. I see how it is tomorrow and call my GP then,  I think it looks a bit worrying and like scc

    thank you for replying!

  • Hi

Sorry I've only just had chance to reply to you but if you're at all worried about your old scar, especially if you think there may be some type of skin cancer within it, then please do make an appointment to see your GP.

Pop back and let us know how you get on if you go to your GP and, in the meantime, please come and post in the skin cancer group, where you'll find plenty of people at different stages of their journey with skin cancer.

Yeah I am, I got an appointment this Friday with the dermatologist and plastic surgeon to see what’s going on, so I’ll let you know how I get on after. I’m a bit nervous, the old scar keeps bleeding and stuff too which is a bit strange. My mum is also being tested for breast cancer and it is in the family, she’s having biopsy’s and stuff next week, so it’s all a bit much. But hopefully it will all be okay.

  • I'm glad to hear that you've got an early appointment with the dermatologist and plastic surgeon .

You're bound to be feeling nervous especially as your mum is also going through her own tests for cancer.

Do let me know how it goes on Friday and, in the meantime, you can always post in the skin cancer group which I see you've joined.

So I’ve been toy appointment today, they did surgery and removed a lump and the old scar I was worried about, they put a nerve in a muscles to hope the tumor doesn’t grow back. Now got to wait about 5-6 weeks for results xx

  • Hi

Glad to hear that you've had your surgery today.

Waiting for the results can be very stressful so if you want to have a chat with others who are in the same position as you just pop into the skin cancer group.
