Hi all.

Was I glad of my stoma today. I  got up this morning to find my toilet wouldn't flush. I had to wait until 4 pm for the plumber to come. I felt so relieved that I don't poo in the loo!! It just show we are in a better position than non ostomates sometimes. Poop Rofl

  • JoyJoy. I know what you mean. Nuclear fallout sums it up perfectly! Brilliant!

  • I love that. Your stoma could protect you.
    They’d get such a shock.

  • I call it a “poonami” since it can be like a tsunami tide of horror on occasion! I like your thinking about scaring off an aggressor, Kath! Joy

  • JoyJoy Another brilliant description. This is the sort of thing you never talk about because people wouldn't understand. That's why this site is so amazing Clap Thumbsup

  • Honestly Kim-If we didn’t have a sense of humour I don’t know how we’d cope! Very few people know I have stomas, because no-one would understand, so I don’t see the point in telling them. Not even my in laws know! I I love being able to speak about these issues with people who know exactly what I’m talking about. Joy

  • I know. I only told a few people at first. More people at work know now as I've become more confident about taking about it. I have to say that everyone has been very supportive of me. I  think we can sometimes worry too much about what other people think. At work I sometimes say "stick a brush up my arse and I'll sweep the floor at the same time". Then say "oh you can't , I  don't have  one. lol.

  • This is wonderful.

Anyone have any mushroom stories?I love them and chew well but they dont change on their journey,if you see what I mean.

Likewise poppy seeds on bread rolls.

  • Hi Moira.

Yes. I said that just today. Looking after my elderly and frail mam. Asking me to do 6 things at once, I  said those words and we both laughed. We so need our sense of humour. Joy

  • I don't seem to have a problem with mushrooms. Sweetcorn, however is a different animal. Comes out whole. I have a colostomy, which I understand is more accepting of some foods than an ileostomy
