Hi all.
Was I glad of my stoma today. I got up this morning to find my toilet wouldn't flush. I had to wait until 4 pm for the plumber to come. I felt so relieved that I don't poo in the loo!! It just show we are in a better position than non ostomates sometimes.
I’m laughing so much.
Stick a brush ….. it’s amazing that we are laughing at this. What an amazing place to be. Thanks for being here with me.

I love love love sweetcorn! I thought about it yesterday whilst eating all that junk food. I am too frightened to try it. Ileostomy’s and sweetcorn don’t mix.
But you never know if I get another teenage day I might just. Go for it

Sweetcorn was the only thing the stoma nurse who came to my house to site my stoma warned me about. She said that a colostomy was the best stoma to have and to eat as I had always eaten.
If I wanted a curry to have a curry.I used to make homemade curries a lot but haven't since my surgery. I don't do takeaway food. I Always cook from scratch. I must try cooking a curry again.

Yes I’ve been told NO! That hurts! I used to love sweetcorn salads or crunchy hot cob with butter and salt. I am actually torturing self.
I make most of my meals from scratch it’s the best way to know what’s in it.
I’ve just had a wobble lately.

I was told to eat a completely normal diet, even when I came round from my op. I eat sweet corn often and have no issues. I have home made curries regularly. I eat mushrooms. I’m scared of baby sweetcorn for some reason so avoid it in stir fries, but everything else is up for a try with a colostomy for me! If it doesn’t work, I’ll soon know about it!
I do eat everything I used to eat before my surgery. Fresh beetroot is quite an issue but I love it so I'll put up with the consequences!

Yes! You are making me hungry. I love casseroles and comfort food. Winter warmers are always good. I like to batch cook soup to take to work.

I guess it’s quite different with an ilesostomy, Ann. Sweetcorn can come out very similar to how it went in with a colostomy, but it doesn’t cause me any issues. I love the winter warmers for now, sausage, mash and gravy being right up there as a favourite!
