Help please. It’s driving me nuts I cannot seem to attach my bag tightly to the edge of my Stoma which then pancakes or leaks around under the bag and burns my skin.
After a serious burn I changed it daily to bathe and calamine, barrier spray or Eakin slim. I don’t use anything but water to cleanse
This is not ideal as I’m wasting my equipment but needs must.
Could it be too many Christmas treats. I do seem to have a little too much tummy weight at the moment?
Or is it just me doing something wrong?
My provider recommended trying a different type of bag to be honest they looked exactly the same until I tried removing them. They stuck fast and broke up making changing a challenge I’ve got some samples for sensitive skin from my nurse but had the same issue, they pancaked.
Maybe my Stoma shrinks back as I move about?
She’s quite proud when I clean her
My Stoma nurses aren’t available at the moment and I hoped that someone could just say how they have overcome this annoying problem.
That’s excellent Ann! I found out about them from my stoma nurse and have not looked back. Ps....do not put them near your mouth or they will stick your lips together! Not that I did that of course.
Ha ha ha
Oh no.
Thanks for that tip though my hubby would enjoy the peace. I’ve got two sample packs thats 14 so I should have a plenty of practice time. They’ve sent wipes and a spray. She said that I can pay for them privately if needed but if I’m successful with them I’ll recommend to my nurses and get my prescription changed.
Ann
I was able to add them to my prescription with no questions asked. I added the flange extenders(banana things) at the same time with no issues and changed both my urostomy and colostomy bag types. I’ve been very fortunate in my surgery not questioning anything, ever, and Ive chopped and changed lots of stuff while discovering what works best for me. Hope you find the lollipop sticks helpful.
It’s trial and error isn’t it?
I am okay with my bags and the Eakin rings work mostly. Haven’t got on with barrier spray.
Im allowed two script items so I will test out the lollipops have them as my second one. If not I can buy them direct so I’m very happy.
Ann
Oh, I didn’t know people had restrictions on scripts. I need so much stuff for Boris and Donald!
I have two scripts one the for bags and one other but wipes removal spray disposal bags are complimentary. Think it’s my NHS trust. I was cross that I couldn’t order what I liked from Coloplast. They only want scripts and my nurses told me two. So im relieved to find Fusion as they’ve said that I can buy them or I may sway from the rings. I have plenty spare and two cans of the barrier spray that I was recommended by my supplier. I see how I get on.
Ann
I cant order direct from the supplier, have to get my gp to send a prescription to them.so its a bit long winded.but once the supplier receives the prescription its quite quick. In fact on one occassion I received the wrong bags by accident ,it was a bank holiday and I was going away the next day .I rang the supplier and they said that if I could drive over to nottingham I could pick some up.cant get better service than that even if it was a 2 hr round trip.
