Help please. It’s driving me nuts I cannot seem to attach my bag tightly to the edge of my Stoma which then pancakes or leaks around under the bag and burns my skin.
After a serious burn I changed it daily to bathe and calamine, barrier spray or Eakin slim. I don’t use anything but water to cleanse
This is not ideal as I’m wasting my equipment but needs must.
Could it be too many Christmas treats. I do seem to have a little too much tummy weight at the moment?
Or is it just me doing something wrong?
My provider recommended trying a different type of bag to be honest they looked exactly the same until I tried removing them. They stuck fast and broke up making changing a challenge I’ve got some samples for sensitive skin from my nurse but had the same issue, they pancaked.
Maybe my Stoma shrinks back as I move about?
She’s quite proud when I clean her
My Stoma nurses aren’t available at the moment and I hoped that someone could just say how they have overcome this annoying problem.
Hi Katz
When you mentioned a location I immediately thought of my supplier so we may well be with the same one! Actually,I suppose I should check what we can and can’t say about products and suppliers-don’t want to unwittingly break any rules.
Hi Katz
i just realised about the script. My GP automatically authorises my order.
Maybe that’s why I’m on two.
My stoma nurse set up the electric script in the very beginning. My supplier said that my orders are fast because it’s electronic. so I can phone them and order two items plus ask for the complimentary things if needed. I don’t go through my Doctor.

I didn't go through my GP .My Stoma nurse set it all up and I had a. 4weeks repeated order and they phoned me inbetween to see how I was getting on .If I had any problems with anything they would send it in 24 hours..My GP must have pulled there hair out ..At the start they questioned my medicine Bad move any Consultant took them to the cleaners .They never did that again .
Alaine.
Great to hear SarahH21, as time passes you will get more and more confident with what you wear and in general day to day life. With my colonostomy I adapt a little what I wear and have developed a different style but all good.

Hi Artsie,
Sorry for not seeing this post earlier, I’ve been taking a break from forum and only now trying to catch up with posts.
I had LAR Jan 2021 with stoma. Leaks in hospital but sorted with convex bags and belt and fine for 5-6 weeks then leaks started. Eventually sorted (Cranshafts advice) using Salts Aloe rings with my convex bags – a couple of leaks in October – then none again until December and many leaks (up to 4 a day) also output was burning, quite green & often pancaking. I couldn’t work out why the change and even spoke to Salts in case the batch of rings was the issue.
However, I’ve since realised that in the build up to Christmas I was eating a richer diet and not having my probiotic yoghurt and fresh blueberries daily as I have done for months. I’m now back to religiously having the probiotic yoghurt and blueberries and leaks have stopped. Could be coincidence, but might be worth considering.
Best Wishes,
