I have stage 4 colon cancer with illeostomy and am currently in remission which is wonderful but I have now developed ulcerative colitis. Has this happened to any of you? Thanks for reading this xx
Hi Philippa and welcome back after your break from us.
I'm sorry to hear that you've developed ulcerated colitis which is quite strange as ulcerative colitis can cause colon cancer and necessitate the forming of a stoma and an ileostomy pouch, and not the other way around.
I take it you are having medical tests as some of the symptoms can be quite nasty especially with a stoma bag. Depending on the location could mean a different approach to treatment.
Not having had ulcerated colitis I am sorry that I can't be of anymore help but it could be that a fellow member will have been in a similar position and be with you soon.
Ian
Hi Ian, many thanks for your reply. Apparently, because my large colon is not in use the lining has become congested and inflamed with a lot of bleeding and pain - rather annoying as I passed the 2 year prognosis 3 years ago! Glad to still be here of course and I am sure I will learn to live with this and be grateful to be alive.
Wishing you all the best x
