Is anyone awake now to just chat sorry I dont have anyone to talk to

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that mum's cancer spread and that she now has ascites. How are you doing today?

My name is Steph, I'm part of the team who look after the Online Community here at Macmillan. I want to help you seek further support so you're not feeling so alone.

Here on the Community, we have a dedicated conversation thread for night time chats. You'll find lots of chat going on  here in 'Awake and up all night' and you would be welcome to join in,

It’s positive that you are reaching out for some support from the Community, and I hope you’ll continue to do so. I’d encourage you to also use our Support Line to talk things through and find help seeking further support. Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00email or live webchat.

Might I encourage you to give us a call today so we can support you further?

There are also 24hour services available who can provide someone to talk to whenever you need it.

    • Shout Crisis Textline- If you're struggling to cope and need immediate support, you can text SHOUT to 85258 and talk to a trained volunteer. The service is free on most networks in the UK and available 24 hours a day.

    • The Samaritans helpline– You can call the Samaritans 24 hours a day for free on 116 123. They are also piloting a new webchat service.

The Supporting someone with cancer’ section of our website has lots of helpful information about which professionals are there to help, how to support someone and find the right support for yourself.

You might also find it helpful to talk to other carers in the Carers only forum.

I hope this is helpful, please do keep chatting here on the Online Community and let us know how you are.

The Community is thinking of you.
