My mum has been diagnosed with the above, my heart is breaking and im struggling to hold it together. I dont live close by and its hard to visit as a mum to 3 children and partner in the military. I have just spent the weekend with her whilst she is in hospital, we watched our favourite film on the iPad and I didnt want to leave her. We dont know how long she has left but have been told no treatment will be given so just palliative care and a moving into a nursing home. The doctor has said she will not make it to this christmas. I dont know what im after but just some others going through the same outcome?
Hi Laura12345
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
Sorry to hear about your mum, it can be so hard when we find ourselves pulled in different directions especially when you are a mum yourself.
Something I misunderstood in the early days was what pallative care actually meant, this is expalned quite well here. Sounds like going into a care home will be helpful to both of you knowing that your mum is being looked after 24/7 can be very positive and allow us to be loving rather than a carer.
My wfie never wanted to know how long when she was diagnosed, at best they are often a guess and based on older data too. It has been over 10 years now and for the moment at least her cancer is stable.
There was an article you might like to read recently on last christmas.
<<hugs>>
Steve
