We 1st August hubby diagnosed with gullet cancer now he on hospital can't eat or drink waiting emergency operation for stomach feeding tube I know it's quite advanced but don't know stage I still think it's like a bad dream. When he has had feeding tube in stomach he got build strength to then have chemo and radiotherapy. I'm a pretty stronge person but this knocked me for six my hi by nearly 68 me 67 my daughter struggling with it duffo anxiety bad and my son don't get on with his dad. I'm doing my best but I feel like I falling apart at the seems and don't want to show I am x
Oh I’m so sorry- it sounds very hard to keep it together for your husband snd your family. A friend had throat cancer and had to have a feeding tube surgery. That went really well and he improved quickly once he started getting food directly to his stomach. Then he got strong enough for his chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He quickly got used to the feeding tube and although he missed eating it worked ok for him. I know you have a long journey ahead. Do take care of yourself- you will find your husband has a lot of support from doctors and nurses, but carers get very little and in many ways it is harder on you.
