Hiyo!
I’m freaking out a bit after inadvertently becoming my friends carer!
She was diagnosed with lung and liver cancer on Christmas Eve last year, has had chemo, radiotherapy, started immunotherapy, but latest scan reveals the secondary cancer in her liver is worsening.
She’s gone downhill rapidly this week, her hubby is really only just moving from denial to shock. Myself and another neighbour have been popping in, I’m now going to be going up daily as I found her asleep on the loo this morning and hubs wandering around the house!
The lady from our local hospice visited this morning, there’s no availability for daily visits from the hospice team so it’s just us and hubs! Apparently days left, two weeks tops. She’s barely eating or drinking and falls asleep every other minute, is confused and moving between several real and imaginary conversations when awake.
The district nurse is calling tomorrow, apparently she can set up a care plan with the local care home, which should’ve been done already via the doctors. Until it’s in place myself and two other ladies/friends/neighbours are going to manage the physical care side for her, and look out for her hubs and their cats. I’ll be up there most of most days going forward now, I’m scared but determined to do right by her.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
