Hi I'm a newbie
Will just write a bit about my other half,he had cancer of the knees 6 yrs ago,so u think great he is a survivor.but its now that he is really finding it all hard,I see the pain he is in all the time, thought he wont ever say he is,I see people looking at his body and see a overweight man.
He fought hard to keep his legs so he could carry on being a hgv driver, now he has found it hard to keep going over the cov19.work has dried up,so he has to started again age 52,that is tuff,he gets embarrassed about him having cancer, and doesnt really let people know unless he has to
So I'm asking 3 things,he wont take any pain killers hates them is there anything he can do take,to easy his pain I'm think reiki or something on these lines.
I know he has to lose weight to help his knees any exercise to help him lose it.
And last by not least can he have knee replacement for him,he has also lost bones in his forearm and leg,and has a mental plate in his arm,I'm sure the pins have moved as his job over time would have moved them.
He has low confidence on himself, will do anything for anyone,so maybe he needs to stop being a hgv driver,I'm thinking if a bus driver, just wondering what jobs he could do.
Thanks for reading this, any help would b great.
Sadly I also lost my mum to cancer 4 yrs ago so know how much it take away from friends and family too.
Hi and a warm welcome to Carers. Blokes just don't like to talk about things the way we do, my husband will talk to other men who have had cancer but not to anyone else. I think you must be right about the weight. My husband's specialist nurse told me what changes to make in my husband's diet and it has worked very well, including losing weight. There's an ebook here with advice on recipes. It would be best to call the helpline for advice about his knees and pain relief; they're on 0808 808 0000 and are open 8am-8pm every day. I'm sorry to hear you lost your mum, I know it's all very emotionally draining. Take care of you too.
Thinking of you,
LoobyLou
