My husband has secondary cancer in liver and bones. His left shoulder is very uncomfortable. He would like me to find some really supportive pillows. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

  • Hi Windgates and a warm welcome to Carers Only, although I'm sorry to read how unwell your husband is. I hope you get this message, my computer won't let me tag you at the moment. Pillows are a very individual thing. My husband likes fairly flat ones with feathers sometimes, other times he likes lightly foam filled ones so he can shape them just how he likes them, but sometimes nothing seems to work; he also has shoulder soreness. It's not easy to find them during lockdown without ordering online but then you have no idea what they will be like until you have them. Have you tried going online for reviews? It might give you a better idea before buying any.

    Hugs,

    LoobyLou

Thank you so much for replying. I am still researching pillows and ways to arrange them. Doctor has just seriously upped his pain relief so I think that will help.

  • Hello Windgates, have just read your post in regards to pillows. My husband has an incurable cancer and in the past his pain was in left side of neck and left shoulder, upper chest again left side, basically where the cancer is and has been. I bought memory foam pillows, alot of them so we could position them in ways that helped husband and also a v pillow. I  can remember our macmillan nurse also offering a wedge type pillow, which my husband declined. I think like looby Lou says it is an individual thing, you might have to try a few different things till you get something that your husband is comfortable with as much as he can be. I do hope the increased pain relief is helping. Take care xx
