Hi there, well here I am again.  My 2nd husband battled bowel cancer successfully 2 years ago and this site was such a support.  2 years on my ex-husband (father of my 3 children) has been diagnosed with rectal cancer and sadly because of this, I have become a kind of carer as my 3 kids are in meltdown and he has no partner.  Anyhow, he has rectal cancer and was told he will need a stoma and that cancer had not spread to lymph nodes or anywhere else.  HOWEVER, after consultant said they could operate, then told ex he has shadow on lung and needed PET scan, PET scan has come back inconclusive and now needs a biopsy on lung?  Poor man is climbing the walls in agony as can't go to the toilet despite laxatives (lactulose and movacol).  He is going in tomorrow to assess blockage(after me screaming down the phone that he is in SOO much pain as can't go to the loo). His Dad died of the same 20 years ago so extra stressful. What does enlarged lymph nodes in lung mean anyone?!!! Be grateful for anyone's advice. It is such an awful time to be ill.

  • Hi , I'm sorry to hear how things are for your ex-husband. It sounds devastating, but good for you for getting him in for treatment. I wouldn't like to comment on enlarged lymph nodes in the lung but I'd suggest you call the helpline on 0808 808 0000 for expert advice. PALS is very helpful too; it might be more difficult as his ex but it's worth a try as they can help if things are not moving as you'd like and they can advise on what other help is available.

    Love and hugs,
