Members of the Online Community have shared how helpful getting outside and walking has been for their mental health and wellbeing, even if it’s only a few steps around the garden or a few quiet moments in nature.

This thread is a space for anyone in the Online Community to share those moments. You’re welcome to:

  • Share when you’ve been for a walk or spent some time outside
  • Talk about how you were feeling before or after
  • Share encouraging thoughts or quotes
  • Post photos from your walk (while staying safe and not sharing identifying details)

There’s no pressure, targets, or competition. The idea is simply to encourage one another, share the small moments that help, and enjoy some of the wellbeing benefits that can come from fresh air, movement, and time spent outdoors.

  • Good morning all

Well I have been having my daily walks and we have noticed as well as the mushrooms there is an increased squirrel population

It’s keeping Ryder on his toes but he can’t understand when he chases them where they go once they climb a tree!

    Best wishes - Brian

  • Hi Arundel, did you try it, not so easy especially if it is breezy.  And you cant cheat by having the leaf land on you, you have to catch it.  I think the other walkers in the woods must be thinking, there's that crazy lady again Joy  but who cares.

  • Hi Lee, no leaf has offered itself yet but I’m still trying. Problem is I always have my little Dog with me so on hand is holding the lead, but I’ll keep on trying.

    Kind regards

  • Hi John,  I have four dogs with me, but they walk off lead in the woods even my blind dog Nutmeg.  Good luck, keep on trying .

  • Hi Lee, How wonderful dogs walking free, I’ve got a Boston Terrier who stays mostly on a lead as he tends to run off but I do let off in an open field still looking for the falling leaf.

    kind regards

  • Well what a beautiful start to October ( not for long by the looks...).  I hope that you all get the most out of the next couple of days!

It is really noticeable that the leaves are starting to turn - although I have had no luck whatsoever with being anywhere near catching anything .

I am still not able to take my daughter's dog for a walk due to my surgery, but I go on pretend walks instead!  There is certainly a lot of squirrel activity - and not only in the park, our lawns are being dug up by hoarding squirrels !!!

  • Haha, yes, I also have not been successful with catching a falling leaf (yet). It sure is turing now after some warm days at the start of the month.

I think its time to get the warmer gear out of the loft!

    Best wishes,
