Members of the Online Community have shared how helpful getting outside and walking has been for their mental health and wellbeing, even if it’s only a few steps around the garden or a few quiet moments in nature.

This thread is a space for anyone in the Online Community to share those moments. You’re welcome to:

  • Share when you’ve been for a walk or spent some time outside
  • Talk about how you were feeling before or after
  • Share encouraging thoughts or quotes
  • Post photos from your walk (while staying safe and not sharing identifying details)

There’s no pressure, targets, or competition. The idea is simply to encourage one another, share the small moments that help, and enjoy some of the wellbeing benefits that can come from fresh air, movement, and time spent outdoors.

  • Ha ha yes,  if you catch a falling leaf in October it brings you good luck.  It is harder than you think Joy

  • I’m just going for a walk I’ll try.

  • Hi Dylan - that looks quite serene, it must be so enjoyable being in those woods. Make the most of autumn’s splendours.

I had a walk down to my local park yesterday afternoon and sat at the cafe having a hot chocolate and just enjoyed being out in the fresh air and sunshine- my first walk out in two weeks after some surgery, I so enjoyed it(the walk that is!).  I am hoping for a repeat visit today as well, especially as the cafe said their order for tea cakes should be in today!

  •   haha, oh, I wasn't aware of this. I will have to give this a try during my next walk!

Yeah, I am very greatful to have these woods right near us,  . It is great to hear that you were able to go for a walk yesterday. I hope you are able to enjoy some cake at that café today.

    Best wishes,
    Dylan

  • Hello to all you good people i don't ask a lot of things on the page because im not very good with things like that so i have had a apsus for 2 weeks and 2 lots of antibiotics but i still got pus coming out of the apsus so because of my cancer i had is it important to get it sorted out thanks

  • Lovely sunny morning down at the local park, and a teacake/hot chocolate combo.  This park has “saved” me so many times, especially during lock down/ Covid/WfH etc but this year in particular it has given me the opportunity to walk, chat and rest awhile whilst getting some steps in.  We are so lucky to have so many open spaces available nearby.

  • Hi

Have you tried a chat with your GP surgery?  My GP allows us to send in a photo of an area of concern and then get a call back?  Or 111?  If you are still having treatment do you have a “red card” number to ring?

  • Hi KrisPy. Good that you’re are getting out on walks & that they are therapeutic. Did 4/5 mile on Wednesday & ended up at volunteer cafe at Cotteridge Park.
    Best wishes

    Andy.

  • Hi KrisPy. Nice relaxing place. Some finished at Bournville Station, but most carried on to park & cafe because it was still early.

Good to stay positive & strong

    Andy.
