Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hello Sally, and a warm welcome to our group.

You've certainly had an unfortunate chain of events my lovely, all out of your control, but it seems you're back on track, with your treatment imminent.

Do you have transport to the hospital? If not, you could phone them and it can be arranged as it sounds like you've got a fair old travel to make.

All the very best for the meeting with your oncologist, and fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Sending you warmest wishes xxx

  • ,I hope that you are doing as well as possible

Thanks, I finished my treatment last May and have been told that there's no more cancer. I'll have scans and check ups for a while though.

  • Thanks that means so much to me,ive worked with some really famous people unfortunately I broke my back in a car crash many years ago when I was working and living in Zurich

  • Oh crikey Adz, your past gets even more chequered!  Well, you've come through all that so brace yourself for whatever might be next. I'm sure you'll handle it well, considering your previous travails. Strength and hugs xxx

  • My daughter is taking me bless her she’s been my rock as my husband has short term dementia thank you for replying

  • Aw that's good Sally, and well done your daughter, a gem! Hopefully, she'll be able to attend your consultation too, as two pairs of ears are always better than one.

Just take things in your stride until your appointment, and try to take your mind off it by keeping yourself occupied with mundane things. You'll have much more information very soon, and hopefully will feel in a better place. Take care and here's a hug xxx
