Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hi again Doreen. I couldn't reply earlier as OH got an impromptu dental appointment for a broken tooth. He ended up having that one and another extracted, but he was down for both anyway - it took quite a while!
Anyway, did your GP give you an idea how long it would take for your new meds to kick in lovey, as you need to give them a chance? See how you go for a couple of days first, but if you still feel low and teary perhaps call the surgery back and see what they suggest. Hugs sweetie xxx
Hi there ScaredBrightonGuy,
I'm in the early weeks of diagnosis and agree it's a scary time. However, lots of lovely people on this chat reassured me that once you get your plan and start your treatment, things get a bit easier...and they were right!
I started treatment yesterday. I have lots of meds to organise so busy doing that and trying to rest and keep a bit busy as far as I can. I try to take things a day at a time and remember I also have a good sense of humour! We have some laughs on this chat, shared stories about our lives, partners, things we like to do and that's important.
Lots of love has also come my way waiting to have scans, appointments and starting treatment. It's a very positive place to come!
Sending hugs,
Julie
Evening Julie and I hope you're feeling well my lovely - just make sure you keep that little upstart Mildred sorted with her packing!
That post from SBG was made several months ago, as I knew him from the H&N forum, but I think you'll be pleased to know his surgery and treatment was successful, the last time I heard, so all good. However, your lovely post will be equally uplifting to others here who are in the early stages of their journeys and I'm sure they'll appreciate your supportive words too. Nice one Julie!
Is your second chemo next week hon, and have you done a chart to cross them off? That's what I did when OH started his RT this time last year, and it seemed to make his sessions whizz by. I've got a thing about charts and lists though - one of my quirks!
Hope you have a nice relaxing evening sweetheart xxx
Thanks Gill. Glad things are going well for him and he's got into the swing of it now.
Yes, it's weekly treatments but should be quicker next week as it's a couple of injections and should hopefully not have to stay too long to be monitored.
I've got a chart! It's got lots on it but not all at the same time. I'm just taking one thing and ticking it off before I go onto the next. Feeling tired but otherwise not too bad. Managed a few light jobs around the house today, to keep moving and a bit busy.
I also love a chart! You know where uou are with a tick chart!!

You certainly do lovely, and I'm a beggar for them. I have my daily list of care duties/times and other tasks, otherwise I'd end up forgetting things if I freestyled! My phone's really handy for appointments too, to make sure none clash.
Aw that's good the next session won't be as long, but don't do too much work - rope hubby in if needed. Says me, whose OH doesn't lift a finger! I'm joking, I don't let him.
Hugs sweetheart xxx
Afternoon Helen, and all good here thanks.
Sounds like you've had a good day so far doll. I've been to visit my eldest this morning, for a good old chinwag, leaving OH to gawp at a sports show.
The sun's out here too ️ enjoy the rest of your day lovely xxx
