Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Good evening, and welcome to our group of, mostly, insomniacs.
Same as Julie, I conked out twice today and there's not a drop of sleep left in me now.
Have you been like this for a while my friend, or is treatment the culprit? Here's a hug xxx
I'd say since menopause, it's got worse but use lavender pillow sprays and moisturisers, and did use magnesium (stopped that now as not sure I should take it now) which I like to think helped.
Just have to lay off scrolling too much on my phone in the middle of the night which doesn't help. Watching a rom com on Amazon Prime does help though. They work for me as they are so formulaic and predictable!! Love them.
My husband is a bit of a night wanderer too. When we had our children (now in their 20s), he could only get to back to sleep after helping with babies by watching 'Carry on Screaming'...worked everytime!!
love it! I don't think the menopause affected me much as I've never needed much sleep, but I tried magnesium several months ago, and boy did it make me cranky so I had to shelve it.
I do like a romcom but Amazon Prime isn't part of our package, unfortunately. I usually find something to watch whilst OH is sleeping like a baby - no matter what he's been through he could sleep on a washing line!
I watched a programme earlier where a guest said he goes to sleep listening to podcasts on crime and murders. The other guests gasped but it's not far from my go to - ghost and horror stories. It can take a while but I always nod off and sleep soundly for 2 or 3 hours. Whatever gets you through the night I suppose xxx
That's a great idea Julie. We were taking a taxi to an appointment last week, and the driver had The Shining playing. Now I've read the book a few times, but my eyes started to droop. It could have been the car's motion too, but the combo certainly started to have a sleep inducing effect. I'm going to see if it's a freebie on YouTube xxx
Evening Gill
I’ve not had a proper nana nap today and I’m feeling a bit tired so saying hello before I do a sudden conk out after my pills!
My phone has finally been sent away by the phone shop-another 2 weeks to hear about that. The poor lass in the shop must have been disappointed so see me roll in again in my wheelchair! I got a bit snappy on my visit on Monday, but she was very nice and helpful today.
Then I had the stress at home later of trying to read the tiny numbers on my new glasses prescription to get new specs ordered. Like the blind leading the blind here-literally. Had to take a photo and enlarge it on OH’s phone, so I just hope I’ve done it right. I was right snappy about the whole process but luckily we’d picked up a treat in town so for the second time this week I had a bit of cake from the bakers. I had this real craving for old school cake, and it was lovely with a cup of tea!
Ooh…I love The Shining! I’m away to look for that now!
Sarah xx
Oh, I’ll have a look for the short stories now Julie-thanks for that. I did find a free Audio book of the Shining but think the woman’s voice is going to annoy me!
Sarah xx
Hi again Sarah and Julie. I don't want a woman's voice as the one in the taxi was a bloke's, with an American drawl, and I liked it.
I hope you get your phone and glasses sorted soon Sarah, as it's annoying having to screw your eyes up - I resorted to using a magnifying glass ages ago but it does the trick. The joys of becoming old - not!
Sweet dreams all of you who manage to get some zeds in xxx
