Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I’ve got a couple of hours off before I start work again at 4.30 so I’ll look for that headspace app now, thank you x

  • I think you have to subscribe and pay for the full thing but I don't think it's a lot and it might be worth a free trial xx

  • I’m actually sat on a horse, doing my best to distract myself xx

    Sounds interesting

  • There are also you tube videos by hypnotherapists which aim to calm anxiety, overthinking or simply help you to relax. My you tube subscription is ad free, thanks to my son. I have found two or three hypnotherapists' videos to be useful, depending on my mood. If you've never experienced hypnotherapy on the tube or in real life, it is nothing like 'stage hypnotism' where participants can be hypnotised to eat a whole raw onion after being told it's an apple! Hypnotherapy is much more subtle and I find it needs considerable concentration to be benificial but may be worth a try.  Ray x

  • My sister-in-law did hypnotherapy to get through labour. She found it very helpful.  I'll have a look at that too Ray, thanks x

  • Hi Julie

Good to hear you've got a plan now. Be aware that the steroids may keep you awake Rolling eyes

    H

  • Yes, thanks H. They did say it interfers with sleep. I'm planning on redecorating the house later!!

I think what I'm taking is a derivative of a drug that inspired the name of Dexy's Midnight Runners. They were named after a drug that was on the Northern Soul scene in the 60/70s. It kept them dancing all night!!

And I will also probably be bothering you lovely people in the small hours!! xx

  • A bit like people who like 4 shot espressos then start running around the walls!

  • Rofl I'll not be doing any of that Ray!!

  • Hello.
I am glad that you have got a treatment plan. It does make things slightly easier.
You don’t have long to wait until your Chemo starts. That’s good the Consultant was positive.

It is a great group. xx
