“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

You're welcome hon. Guess what? My eyes are starting to feel like lead so I'm contemplating trying to get some sleep. I've got an early start so maybe I should take my own advice and put a podcast on.

Sorry you've found yourself here.
I have trouble with dressings and tape and after my hysterectomy I had daily dressing changes for 12 weeks! I found Opti-Heal Soft Silicone Tape in Tesco of all places, not cheap but it was a god send, and eventually one of the nurses tried Biatain dressings and they were great too. I don't know if you've tried these.

I am just catching up with the forum. I was like you and so many of us are. The anxiety. Sleepless nights.
I found my GP very helpful and alI was prescribed sleeping tablets. However between us agreed I would only take when required and not every night. They gave me 7 tablets to last 2 weeks. By the end of the 2 weeks I still had 3 left.
Like many others they worry is becoming to be rely on them. I had made my mind up before seeing the doctor, I just needed a short course to help with over thinking. I had a plan to not want anything long term and stuck to it. I agree through medication is not for everyone, but it did help for the 3rd or 4th night of not sleeping well at all.

Hi Jamie , that’s a good idea but not sure my discipline is strong enough and I guess knowing you have them in your drawer if you need them is a relief
So is your plan when you have taken all 7 to repeat as before

Sometimes we need a little help. Its about having a plan and be sensible with it. The GPs are good and they are other things they can prescribe as well. So, I do feel if you are really struggling it could benefit you having a chat with your GP.
I said once I have my results and the medical plan for future treamtnent. This would lessen my anxiety, like so many its the waiting, not knowing, the if and buts and dr google scares us all lol.
Now I have a plan, started my pembrolizumab and being closely monitored, my anxiety is much less. So I dont feel I will have any more sleeping tablets now, but have some in my draw just in case for the future. I still get broken sleep and at times still struggle to drift off easily. But not near the levels I was at the veey start. Xx
That’s good Jamie , I am glad your anxiety is getting a bit better and you have a plan, so important to know what is going on and what is next , I agree with your comments on Dr Google , I was told not to google by my docs but I just can’t help it !, never a positive !

I was also told not to Google! Stopped now. There's too much rubbish info out there! It's all very overwhelming though. I'm only 4 days in from diagnosis. Terrified and getting anxiety attacks but taking it a day at a time xx
