Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Oh sorry to read this. But lets hope the other tests are okay and all goes to plan. I know there are certain cases you can claim for travel cost for appointments through the Health care travel cost scheme NHS.

You can look it up online through the nhs websites. If you enter nhs travel cost scheme it comes up in google. Just an idea to look at and you may be eligible and there is a number you can ring too to discuss.

Sending hugs to you both xx

  • I'm glad your nolonger sulking. They operated on me Monday and im home now without a catheter thank goodness. Ive started to be able to control my pee again so there's no need for the gusunder. My doctor says as far as he is concerned a full recovery is a done deal.  I have found the tag so much help, the chat has cheered my up .now from a prity low mind set I've gone to being near back to normal whatever that is. I'm one of the luckily ones apart from 6 monthly checks im now clear. Please if my experiences of bladder cancer are of any use to anyone im more than happy to listen.

  • Hi Jamie Wave thanks so much for the info hon. The problem is I'd probably need receipts - we've taken so many taxis but I've got none and they go way back. We can afford it as we don't go anywhere but hospitals, so no worries. Like I said to my lovely friend on another platform, the main thing is my super OH is ok and if further treatment is needed, then so be it. I'm fervently hoping it won't come to that.

How are you today my friend xxx

  • Most taxis can give a receipt if you ask. It was just an idea for you both for future appointments and you can claim up to three months via post.

I hope the tests are clear too and your super cat loving OH dont need anything else.

I am good been a social butterfly again and met with a ex work colleague today and had coffee and 4 hour chat. So much to catch up on. Its been a wonderful sunny day in Leicester, so sat outside soaking up the sun and getting some free vitamin d.

    Xx

  • That's absolutely fantastic news to hear! I'm totally made up for you my friend, and if I hadn't already stopped sulking I certainly would have now. Thanks so much for sharing your great news and I'm certain all of us here will be delighted for you. Big hugs coming your way xxx

  • Excellent stuff Jamie! Thanks again sweetie but we'll be fine - I just wish we could spend the money on enjoyable things, but I'm sure they'll come eventually.

Now you, my fine fella, are doing the right thing by getting yourself out and about and that sounds great, meeting up with your friend. Yep, free vit D will do you a power of good, so soak it up and keep those wings flapping. It always cheers me up here and getting messages from friends, and the news from rjh put a cherry on top! Keep on trucking sweetheart xxx

  • Amazing news. This really added to my sunny day and made it even brighter. You personal journey is one which certainly will help others and you are part of the bladder forum. So I am sure there will be a few you can support and help along the way.

    All the best,

    Jamie

  • Sounds like good news.

  • Isn't it just and I'm made up for him. I totally get he'll be glad to see the back of the catheter as OH had to be catheterised for 4 days when he was in hospital last time round. He wasn't impressed either.

Have a peaceful and relaxing day tomorrow hon, and don't stand up your sofa - it's getting comfy for your date! Rose Hugs and love from your kitties biggest fans xxx
