Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Afternoon Jamie Blush All ok on the OH front Fingers crossedwell his team seemed happy, so we can't ask for much more and no ENT Clinic for two months. I'd have posted earlier but had too many exciting things to do - stripping bedding, washing, pegging out...I'm being facetious, but so pleased his team didn't pull any unwanted surprises out of the bag.

Hoping your day's going well my friend xxx

  • Hello everyone.
That’s great that the appointment went well Gill.
What a beautiful day today. Spring is on the way. It certainly gives everyone a lift when the sun is shining. Sunny️ xx

  • Hi Kez and thanks sweetheart Kissing heart

Aye, I've taken advantage of the sun today, hence getting plenty of washing done. It's meant to be the same again tomorrow here, but back to rain and a big drop in temperature on Friday. Now I'm fine with that but I do love watching all the birds in the sunshine - as a reward for the entertainment provided, they've got extra mealworms and nuts! I'm made up you've enjoyed your day lovely xxx

  • Good afternoon, my lovely friends

I am so very pleased with thumbs ThumbsupThumbsupThumbsupThumbsupCat2Cat2 and kitties are very happy too.

And 2 months break before seeing them again, so hoping has time progresses might mean appointments become less frequent as well...fingers crossed.

Me had a lovely day and went Costco with a friend for the first time. Wow they sure do things in bulk haha. Then spent the chatting and drinking lots of tea.

Having dinner cooked tonight by the youngest child (20yrs) who currently lives with us again. Nice surprise as it means I get a night off and have my pj's ready xx

  • Evening Jamie Grin Aw that's lovely, getting dinner cooked for you! Plenty of lounging after think on, and cosy on down in your PJ's. Fab stuff!

It sounds like you had a smashing afternoon, but lucky you, going to Costco as I don't think we've got one nearby. But after the stroke clinic appointment tomorrow morning, we're going to the Range for a mooch, mainly to buy a couple of those ergonomic butterfly pillows - the pair of us suffer from achy necks/shoulders so we're going to give them a go.

I've shown OH your emojis of the royal cats, and the thumbs, and he loves them! When you're fed, watered and settled, give those fur babies a fuss from us. Have a great evening champ xxx

  • Hi Gill and anyone else looking in.

Great news that the appointment went well Gill-phew! It’s always good when those appointments start to space out more.

I got 2 hospital appointments through today for next Monday, unexpectedly. One for a risk assessment for me to have a general anaesthetic, followed by a pre op assessment, I called up immediately and cancelled both.

These were for me to be assessed before deciding if I can the hip replacement I need, and I did give it a lot of thought-only been waiting 5 months for the appointments to come through!

I was already unsure about going ahead after my appointment with the surgeon-he was very clear about my level of risk having had a stroke and a pulmonary embolism. He was nice but didn’t mince his words! Having thought about it after that discussion, I made up my mind I wouldn’t ever choose to go ahead with surgery.

I’ve had several near misses already and used up several of my nine lives, so I made the decision not to put myself at such risk again voluntarily. It would just be crazy as my risk is so high.

So that’s now been put to bed for good and I need to hope I never fall and break either hip! They would operate in an emergency like that, but I’m going carefully on my sticks!

Let me know how you get on with those pillows Gill-I’d be interested to see if they’re good. I have an orthopaedic pillow for between my knees when I’m in bed which does help, but I’m guilty of lying in bed funny and not moving because of my stoma bags, and tube to my drainage bag so I’m often stiff in my shoulder area.

it’s been nice to see some sun Kez-gives us all a boost to feel spring might be near!

    Sarah xx
