Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

I think i am processing everything of what's happened in the last 8 weeks. When you you put it in words its like wow....oh did all that happen. I think being out today for the first time properly in 8 weeks gave me a taste of old normal. Then the late night comes and the thoughts of yesterday comes sneaking in haha. Thank you for listening once again it really is appreciated and I feel less things are running around wild in my head now i have wrote them here.
Now the fun part is what podcast to listen to Uncanny which is about paranormal or true crime bang to rights....mmmm not sure but i do miss my ghost hunting nights. xx
Snap! I listen to Raven Reads on YouTube and her creepy ghost stories. I like a touch of the paranormal in the twilight hours.
I like writing things down too. It's cathartic and does indeed get the invasive thoughts out of your head and sends them into the ether.
Righto my fine young fella, time to relax and, for me, Raven is calling so I'll wish you night night, and get as good a rest as you can. Sweet dreams xxx
ive tried everything to try fall asleep nothing works some days I live of 3 hours a night...but then tired throughout the day but hard to nap with a 4 year old... ive recently just had pet scan so waiting on results is the worst (ive stage 4 breast cancer ) was on ribociclib for 6 months but stopped working now on chemotherapy sorry to waffle on dont really talk to anyone about this xx
Good morning Sooh, and a warm welcome to our group although I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Of course you'll be worried about the length of time it's taken already sweetheart, and the ball should certainly be rolling by now. Get in touch with whomever made your original referral and let them know asap. Similarly, the hospital you're under and the consultant that gave your diagnosis. If you live in Scotland they apparently have different criteria to England and Wales, but maybe start pushing for clarity on the wait. Your mind won't be at ease till you get answers my lovely.
In the meantime, a good move would be to join the Pancreatic cancer forum and a community champion will provide the link for you shortly. You'll be able to connect with others there and express your worries, and also get helpful advice and support.
Wishing you all the best hon, and please keep in touch to let us know how you get on. Big hugs xxx
Hello Sooh
A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, although I am so sorry to find you joining us. This is the General Chat group and you are very welcome to use this thread for general conversations.
The online community is divided up into cancer specific groups and in your case I would advise you to also join the pancreatic cancer group where you will meet others on the same or similar journey. and here's the link you need:
Just click on the link I have provided and once the page opens up, click on the black banner at the bottom of the page to join the group. Once you have joined the group why not introduce yourself by posting in the "New Here - Say Hello" section.
As you have a pancreatic diagnosis you need to contact your team at the hospital where you received the diagnosis and ask when your oncology meeting will be as you need a treatment plan. If you are having issues with this you need to contact the hospital PALS (Patient Advisory and Liaison Service) who should be able to help with the the appointment.
If you need any further help in navigation thr Community please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes - Brian.

Good morning fighting.
No apologies needed love, and you're certainly not waffling as you're understandably worried, especially about waiting for your scan results.
Do you have any help at home? With a lively 4 year old you could certainly do with it as you really need to catch up on some sleep. Talking to family and friends should help you, although I do realise many find cancer a difficult subject to talk openly about. Maybe get an appointment with your GP and tell them you're struggling with sleeping and domestic issues. If you have a Maggie's nearby they'll also provide invaluable support. And you can always post here, to vent, complain or just chat about everyday stuff as we'll always listen. Don't feel alone my lovely as you're not, there's always someone to reach out to. Big hugs xxx
