Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Phone your doctor and explain what you have been in told .he himself referred her as urgent .he might be able to do something about treatment .also he should be able to sort pain relief out . sending hugs
Hello Stac and welcome. I'm stunned at your post, as it's certainly not normal in my opinion. All I can advise is to push for an urgent appointment, starting with calls to the hospital, GP etc, as you need to get things moving. Is she already on treatment for Cushing's to get the cortisol down? So many things to deal with sweetheart, but maybe others here can come up with some sound advice. I really hope so, as you need to get yourselves in a better place. Wishing you the best of luck, and please let us know how you get on if you have the time. Fingers tightly crossed for you both xxx
Hello daffodil, I'm so sorry to hear this , and I am sad you are in pain . There is never too much information we must all talk about these things so everyone can have more awareness. I had stage 1 seminoma testiclular almost two years ago and had right orchidectomy and a prosthetic put in . I swerved chemo by a whisker and opted for surveillance. I have been in remission nearly 2 years , I was very lucky . I'm thinking of you and praying that your pain will pass.
Hugs from leocat.
Hello Stac
Welcome to the group from me, although I am so sorry you find the need to join us.
As others have said - you need to contact the GP. The NHS UK Clinical Cancer Pathway aims to see, test and diagnose or rule out cancer within 28 days of referral.
You need to speak to the GP on Monday and ask just where your daughter is on this pathway as clearly 8 weeks is not acceptable. If you can't get a satisfactory reply you need to escalate the conversation to your GP Practice Manager and ensure the details of your request are noted on your daughter's medical records.
If you wish to chat to someone about this our Support Line is open to you - it's a free call on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week).
Please do let us know how you get on.
Best wishes - Brian

Hi Stac
I’m sorry to read about your daughter, and this is absolutely not a normal timescale for an urgent referral though it can unfortunately normal for a non urgent one.
The GP has seen a lesion, and she is showing other symptoms, and while it could have a simple explanation, she needs to be seen more quickly.
First off you need to make sure that the gp has marked the referral as urgent, and check that the hospital knows about this. If it has for any reason not been marked as urgent, your gp needs to make sure it is upgraded.
There are guidelines in place to be seen quicker for urgent referrals which should be followed to check for cancer . This is now called the Faster Diagnosis Standard (if you are in England) where the aim is to be seen for a suspicion of cancer and for that to happen within 28 days of the referral. This is to either confirm or rule out cancer.
So the first step is to ensure that the referral has been made as a suspected cancer referral on the correct pathway. Please contact the GP on Monday to confirm this and ask them to pursue.

Hi Gill
Thank you for your reply .we have called hospital and been back to gp still the same answers 6 to 12 month waiting list which is wrong . Yes she is on a tablet that no one has heard of because of the cushings she is open to infection which appears to be weekly 2 weeks ago she had toothache went to dentist who drilled and filled tooth with antibotics and gave her antibiotics for to take at home she took a severe allergic reaction. Her throat was closing ovef het face neck was swollen . They could not say wether it was a reaction to new pill or not . She went back to gp the follwowing week with other symptoms to be told he body was still reacting to antibiotics he had no option but to give her steriods . It has cleared now . Thankfully

Seems no help available and no one seems to care in health proffesion i have emailed health secatry who has said they have put millions into gyny to reduce waiting times . Haha I have confessed to my OH and was happy with the new furniture and sofa. Lucky my OH knows after 17 years I just have these spare of the moment with changeing rooms and furniture. So now managed to get the stuff we need to get started in a weeks time. Back home now and the fatigued is setting in haha. I do find decorating very therapeutic. But more than happy to help decorate sounds like I could get some customers if I started a business adventure.
Hello .
We have been to the doctors on friday he says that this is the new normal wait times he says he cant do any more than he has done the urgent refferal thats all he can do despite my daughter now having severe back pain we live in a sort of rural area with a communtiy hospital she has been hospialized from therr many times but they only send to to the nearest hospital which is irh they do not have a gyny department so sje feels there is no point in going there she is so fed up she said ill wait it is what it is . I am beside myself qith worry
Oh Stac, I really feel for you. Please take Sarah's and Brian's advice, starting with a call to your GP first thing on Monday, and please don't let them fob you off - be firm and demand swift action. Once you know exactly where you stand after your girl is seen, you'll have greater control over the current situation. Make notes before you make the call and include the info given by Sarah as it sometimes makes them sit up and take notice if they know you're aware. You've been kept waiting too long and that's not acceptable. Try to take things easy in the meantime, as the last thing you need is stress. Call in here anytime as we all want to support you and your daughter until you get somewhere, hopefully very soon.
Big hugs my lovely xxx
