Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi there new  to this site.  I'm still waiting  my my bowel cancer diagnosis and am finding it very difficult  to concentrate on anything else. Feels like im. In limbo. Unable to sleep due  to over active mind. You just dont have any control at this point  ... anyone else in the same position.

  • Sorry to hear that you've had to join this club.

Those early days when you’re waiting for info can be stressful but try to take one day at a time. Do you have appointments in place?

  • Morning all

Another very early morning for me.  The first cuppa's gone and I'm watching Easties.

  • Morning Molliemeg, and welcome from me too Relaxed️ Good advice from Helen there. It's difficult trying to sleep when worrying about upcoming appointments and other issues - I got very little again last night, what with another raft coming up for us. Trying to avoid napping during the day sometimes works, but I dozed off late afternoon and messed up a sound sleep. On the other hand my OH has no problem getting in the zeds, and he's the patient!

Hopefully, once you get your diagnosis and treatment plan, you'll find gaining some control will prevent your mind from racing ahead. Sending hugs xxx

  • Morning Helen Blush

Not much sleep here either and we've got an early appointment, ahead of others this week. Obviously the culprit.

Any motorhome adventures in the offing? xxx

  • Morning Gill

I hope your appointment goes well.

Our next planned trip is to London in February.  There's a site at Abbey Wood close to a station to get into the city.  There's also a great breakfast café and Indian restaurant close by.

  • Thanks Helen - fingers crossed Fingers crossed

That sounds great, especially about the breakfast! There'll be a fair few of us here wanting to know what Alan and yourself get up to when you go.

Well I've got just over an hour to get a bit of sleep before I get cracking. If that doesn't work I may as well get the kettle on. Enjoy Easties my lovely xxx

  • It is really hard to relax when you have appointments on the horizon. I’m usually a sound sleeper but I have my four monthly check on Thursday had a CT scan last week and I was worrying until 3am this morning. Very stupidly I left my phone downstairs so didn’t have it on hand for a chat. Hope your appointment goes well today.

    Linda xxx

  • Thank you Linda Relaxed️ it went ok and we're home now. ENT clinic tomorrow morning and bloods at the doctor's on Thursday, so more rubbish nights probably.

I'm not surprised your nights have been disturbed, but fingers tightly crossed that Thursday will be all good sweetheart. Try and catch up on some rest today xxx

  • Hopefully your appointment will go well.
