Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hay Gilly, yippee, wonderful news my friend, what a wonderful day, especially LOH gaining weight, hardly surprising with all the yummies you buy, we would like Teddy bedding, as fleece is lovely, but not practical with 2 dogs, we like M&S too, we went last week, for clothes, a couple of cashmere sweaters and a coat, yes a few groceries too. Yes Stacy is American, there are a few on the community, I know others from Canada, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Australia, New Zealand and India.

Hi again Eddie. There are a couple of Aussies and some from the USA on H&N and Sian, of course, who lives in Portugal. It certainly seems a popular site with our friends overseas. Talking of Sian, she told us she'd made 2 kgs of vanilla fudge to sell at the fair (yum) so I asked for photos of her work and she said she'd post something.
Aye, I can imagine the dogs' coats wouldn't mingle well with fleece and you'd have a devil of a job shifting the pair off the bed. Keep them off the cashmere too. We went in M&S first for coffee and cake which was devine, a choc and cherry roulade with chocolate antlers. I could have scoffed the whole roll! Then down to the food hall for a bevvy of goodies. Even the drawback of no jalopy didn't spoil our first decent outing for over a year and it felt liberating. The icing on the cake was another weight gain, and LOH is pretty much back to normal now after losing so much at the start of this journey. We're very happy bunnies today xxx
Yes it's certainly a cosmopolitan community, especially popular with the Scottish, though that's not surprising.
Sian's vanilla fudge sounds delicious, I make a crumbly fudge called tablet, I'd be happy to share the recipe
Yes the dogs do make some things impractical, in particular Poppy who sheds her fur all year except for winter, Cassie's little bit can be caught with regular brushing, Oooh was that an mascarpone roulade, too cold for an ice cream one, and getting colder, so your new bedding might keep you both in bed all day, and LOH is back to his pre treatment weight, another big well done to nurse Gilly. Xxx
Annette told me about tablet a while back Eddie, and it sounds delicious too, especially the ginger variety. I hope she's ok and just taking a break, as I miss her twilight chats
The roulade wasn't mascarpone, but a dense choc sponge and other delights. I hunted round the food hall but couldn't find one, so I've promised myself to get back before Christmas and hopefully buy a couple. Yes please for the tablet recipe and Sian would welcome an addition to her baking I'm sure.
Only a couple of days before you're Greece bound now, and a timely escape from the cold although I look forward to it. There's nowt better than being outside at this time of year and then coming in to warm up. Now that's magic, as PD used to say. Is Sheila still coping with the trials of hearing the local wildlife chirruping away? It'll be early afternoonish there now, so do you Skype late night from our end? I'd get so mixed up with the time difference. Hey, are you feeling any better now Eddie? I hope you are xxx
Hello Gill,
It's about 7.25pm now, just having a cold beer before a late tea.
We have hummingbirds visiting a feeder hung outside the kitchen window of the house we're renting, they feed off a specially made sugar / glucose & nutrients mix formulated to give them the right diet as does nectar. They visit on and off from dawn to dusk, it's a privilege to be able to stand at the window and watch them.
The Grand Canyon is awesome, especially at dawn and dusk. Having said that, many normal landscapes that are not famous are just as stunning.
See what Wednesday brings, somebody has to be lucky!
Derek.

Morning Gilly, Annette has left this thread, and rarely posts on any forums anymore, I can't give the initial reason why, but like me, living with an incurable diagnosis, we have things going on we can only really talk about with each other, Annette also has family and close friends going through difficult times, so I don't know if you'll ever chat to her again my friend, I'd be happy to pass on a message for you.
Yay 1 day to go, everything is sorted, just meds to pick up today, after hospice, friends, a massage, and dinner at Casa Luli's, which is at somewhere called Hartshead. you're just weird loving the cold and wet, you'd love it at a friend of mine's in the Cairngorms, its not getting over 3C for the next 10 days and snowing on 9 of them, she does have a lovely log burner, gorgeous views and a furry friend.
Oooh I can't believe M&S wouldn't sell food they sold in their cafe, if you can't find it in store try Ocado, guaranteed. Is this it? serves 8, 8 what? mice!
Yep, Sheila's suffering, poor old thing "she's 2 years older than me," all that warmth and sunshine, I bet your glad your not there my friend, and Sydney is 9 hours ahead, so I Skype around midnight and mornings.
I'm so so, thank you Gilly, I'm not pinching the babies food anymore, just a couple of niggles are concerning, and when to tell family my latest results, they've bought forward my oncology appointments to every 6 weeks now, so I'll leave off saying anything till after my next one on Dec 30th. Sounds like you have a relaxing day, or is that the hope xxx
Morning Eddie. I'm so sad about Annette as I'd grown really fond of her. If you could pass on how much I enjoyed our owl chats and the lovely way she interacted with members here please. Also I'm wishing her nothing but the best and sending my love xxx
Casa Luli is about two miles away from us - small world - and although we've not been it gets good reviews, so enjoy. And yes, that's the cake and I really should have asked someone to point me in the right direction, so it was my silly fault.
Aw Eddie, first the news about Annette and now yourself. I can't tell you how much I want things to be all right, but you get ready for Greece and have the best time. Sending you big hugs and lots of love xxx
Afternoon Derek.
I Googled Kitt Peak Observatory and it looks amazing - did you get a chance to look through the telescopes? There must be so much to see and do there, but have you been to Tombstone or isn't it on your agenda?
That must be a glorious sight, the hummingbirds in the garden, so I hope you've got some good footage or photos for your archives.
Well I've put a couple of lucky dips on for tomorrow, so watch this space, and if we win I'll be checking out properties for sale in Barmston, our dream destination. Keep having a great time for however long your holiday lasts xxx
Hi Gilly, of course I'll pass on your message to Annette my friend, and hopefully she'll pop back on soon, once things are a little better, and I never stopped for dinner at Casa Luli's, as I wasn't sure I could manage it, and just had a couple of hours with my friend, and a drink/toast to her big day.
Birstall, Halifax, and White Rose sells the roulade Gilly, as does my local M&S, and thank you my friend for your concern, but I'm still doing ok, anyway how was the teddy bedding, was it all you hoped for and did you have a good night's sleep all snuggled up? well three people have asked me to pass on their good wishes to Annette, so I'd better get home and do it, now I can, as I've been having issues posting her for a few days, all sorted now
, catch up soon xx
Evenin all
The Teddy bedding sounds great Gill H but it would be too warm for me.
We got away yesterday so we're on a lovely site in Rutland, in a village called Greetham. We walked to the pub last night for a meal to find the chef is on holiday! So we had a drink and a chat with the locals then back to the MH for bangers & mash. The fresh air did me some good.
I had an even worse night last night, I was awake for a lot of it and heard the church bells sound several times. I managed another walk today but we got caught in the rain.
This afternoon I've been crocheting while watching Christmas movies
Safe travels eddiel enjoy your trip.
