Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Oh, that’s interesting Helen. I don’t test my blood sugars myself, so I’ve just hoped to get better results on my next blood tests at the gp, due to everything I’ve tried to do to change my diet etc. Maybe I can treat myself to a nice glass of red from time to time!

  • Hi JonS, and a warm welcome to our friendly little thread, though I'm so sorry you have to be here. My friend it's important you inform your team about the night sweats, it can be an indication of a possible problem with the endocrine system, so better to be safe, of course it may well be the menopause, either way, your team can help. I know the hot flushes can really get you down, so have them looked into as they can often be treated quite easily, PS I'm going through the menopause for the 2nd time due to treatment's impact on my endocrine system, taking meds the 1st time, and herbal tea the 2nd, and yes I'm a man "almost," best wishes.

  • Who thought of putting this on the home page?  What a brilliant idea!!

I bet you thought I was going to complain about it!  Such a great link.

I use my phone for my Macmillan and this link works out great!

Am I easily pleased?  Well yes but I won't go into that!

I'm still buzzing after meeting up with my new 55 year old, younger brother on Thursday!  My first younger brother at the age of 61.

  • Hi everyone.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend. Just an update, had an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy yesterday. They took some biopsies, but didnt find anything of immediate concern. Still have a few more tests to wait for the results.

Have a good weekend all x

  • Hello.

I haven’t been suffering from night sweats, but from the odd flush. I am at that age too, and I think the Chemo will bring on Menopause.
Have you spoken to your Doctor or Nurse to see what they say?

  • Hello.

That’s good that you got your jags. Hopefully, you feel okay with them.
I hope that you had a lovely lunch?

  • Odette, I remember before I had my first Endoscopy and Colonoscopy, someone at work said "Make sure they wipe the camera!"

I found that the day before the Colonoscopy was the worst... waiting for the toilet...then finally...at about 23:00...

I'm glad they didn't find anything to be concerned about!

Fingers crossed Fingers crossed for your other tests!

  • OMG I've never experienced anything like it! That 100% was the worst part.  I nearly gagged when I took the second prep drink.
