Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hi Gilly, I can't be certain, but I'm hoping everything went OK, and every test done, I'm being kept in overnight as a precaution, plus they didn't think our Sarah's short time in nursing qualified her to take care of me, bugger, anyway I've told them I have my bloods/PSA early and a10am appointment tomorrow so they've said they'll have my answers in time for me to make my 10am, it seems a little strange waiting for answers which I will likely not act on, but it would be nice to have the option, I think, yes back to the Scilly's tomorrow, I called my hospice friends, their good to go, oxygen sorted at last, and Amelia dawdling as her 1st "proper," boyfriend is upset lol.. How's LOH, all seen to and ready for bed nurse Gilly, XX
Yes Eddie, he's all done and dusted and in the best mood since I can't remember. After weeks of the GP ignoring letters and phone calls, I rang this morning and his PSA results are clear, so one less thing to worry about and a massive relief. I'd geared up for joining the Prostate forum!
Aw lad, yet another hospital stay. Well let's hope everything will be ok and you'll be on your way back tomorrow. Fingers tightly crossed. Is Amelia one of your ladies from the hospice? Love nursey xxx
That's fab news with LOH, PSA results,I'm happy for you both, and now you've had your 1st test, push for one every year, and if there's any family history of PCa, 6 monthly, the PCa forum would be lucky to have you, my friend, and do you know it's been voted the best PCa forum in the world. I don't post on it much these days, but keep in touch with a few who also drifted away from it,
Aye another night in hospital, but only one and in a ward, so someone to talk to, and luckily I had a few bits in the car, for the Scilly's trip, so didn't need to bother our Sarah bless her, she has more than enough to do, aaaw Gilly, no Amelia's my eldest granddaughter, I'm not overly enamoured about her boyfriend; but she's blossomed since they became close. I'm keeping an eye on him though lol XXX
Hi Eddie
Sorry to read you’re having an overnight stay in hospital…hopefully you’ll get out tomorrow and get on with your travels. Not the best place to get some sleep though.
Good news for your OH, Gill-a relief for you both I’m sure.
Sarah xx
Thank you my friend, I'm sure I will, I'm with you regarding a place to sleep, the mattresses are awful, it's too light and your woken for your 3 hourly stats too lol. I hope your feeling a little warmer today Sarah, and recovered from your trip, time to get some sleep, lol. XXX
Aw thank you, and I'll make damn sure he does get tested every year. No family history thank goodness, but I'm aware the earlier it's caught, the best chance of a cure so there'll be no messing about. I'm not surprised the PCa gets fab reviews, going by the quality of those who post here too. All amazing folk.
Aw I'm glad you're on a ward this time, but I'll bet the nurse will be round every couple of hours to do obs, so probably not much peace for yourself and fellow companions. It'll soon be this time tomorrow though, and the sounds of the sea to lull you off. As a doting grandad, you do well to keep a watchful eye on Amelia's beau - if you've got suspicions, unfortunately they're usually correct. Good move having things in the car to save Sarah a traipse. The nurse can deliver my bosie on her next round xxx
Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words Eddie, and I'm sorry to hear you're in the hospital tonight! At least you have a wonderful thread like this one to help keep you entertained, but I truly hope you get a few good moments of sleep! I can never get comfortable in the hospital, people coming and going, the food, the coldness, and just not being at home is so challenging. Back when I was an inpatient, I bonded with patients younger and older than me, and our conversations during the night always helped. The rules just didn't apply to some of us.
That's awesome that you've also watched Supernatural, the actor that played Lucifer definitely excelled at that role, and was even comical at times. Anyway, I hope you get released early tomorrow!

Just one more thing, you should give The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies a try sometime, I think you'll enjoy them!
Thank you Sarah, and it is indeed a relief, what with all the other stuff.
Just a quicky. My eldest bought us a heated throw a couple of years ago. It's got a thermostat to control how warm you want it, and it's so cosy when on the sofa or chair as it covers your whole body. When OH was in hospital last winter, I never needed to put the CH on as the throw was enough, saving a bomb on the heating bills. Mind, that's just me as I'm a cold fish, but just a thought for yourself when relaxing or watching the telly. Love to you xxx
I hate sliding about on hospital mattresses Eddie! I’ve had many hospital stays, and never managed much sleep-especially with getting wakened up for stats when you do get to sleep.
I’m nice and cosy tonight but my little cat has stolen my hot water bottle and is sound asleep on it!
Safe travels tomorrow.
Sarah xx
