Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I used to count sheep, until I started working at an abattoir, then they stopped running past me.

  • Hi.

No I haven't but I'll have a look. Thankyou so much Blush

  • Thank you so much for the kind words, I still have my little moments of despair and end up an emotional mess with so much to think about, but I somehow keep going and try to maintain a sense of humor.

The love and support on this site is amazing, plus it's a very active forum, which is why I joined. I'm in a few Facebook groups for my bone cancer and other health issues I have, but sometimes I just want to be able to share my thoughts and connect with others outside of Facebook who can also relate to this journey no mater what type of cancer they have.

I'm always jealous when I hear about somebody that's never watched Game of Thrones before just because they're starting the series for the first time ever. Which means they can binge watch at their own pace, and get through the entire series quickly if they want and not have to wait between seasons. The character arches in Thrones are amazing throughout the series, as well as seeing the actors and actresses grow up over the years. Similar to how the kids in the series Stranger Things have grown up over the years.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

  • Hi Sian, that's fab news about your animal friends, all doing well, and hopefully sheep can come out of the shade now, and it's almost happy season, as well, when the tourists disappear, not a problem we have in Donny-except for St Leger week, and the Scilly's are wonderful, a little old fashioned, but super safe for families and lovely weather"mostly", not this weekSob, never mind, Oooh Sian I  don't have 6 grandkids my friend, my youngest daughter has 6 kids, I have 12 grandkidsGrinningGrinning.

hugs and love to you both XX

  • I tried watching the first episode of Game of Thrones, couldn't get away with it.

Everybody I know who has seen all the episodes absolutely loved it.

I'm more of a 'Law & Order'; 'FBI' person.  Or 'The Walking Dead'!!

  • Hi Stacy.

That's the spirit lass, keep your sense of humour as it does help when hurdles get in the way. I've had meltdowns over this last year that would've won gold in the Olympics if the category existed, and I'm not the sufferer here. But the site has helped both of us so much and I wish I'd found it a lot earlier than I did, and think all hospitals should have huge posters in their reception areas, trumpeting the virtues of forums like this. I don't get paid by Macmillan, honestly.

Talking of which, you're doing a fine job promoting Game of Thrones to the uninitiated amongst us and might find some converts. Has it really been going on for years? I've never seen Stranger Things either - we've really been missing out on popular programmes my lovely. It could be down to we're a pair of oldies! We've even given up on the soaps, but we do watch old Corries each afternoon. Yawns all round.

Anyway hon, have a good evening and now you've got a haven if sleep eludes you. Sending bosies, the new word for hugs round here. And if you want it in Welsh, it's cwtchs, learned from one of our friends who hails from that lovely part of the UK xxx

  • Hard to beat The Walking Dead, that's another one of those series where you fall in love with some of the characters, while others you can't stand. Shane and Negan were a bit much for me! LOL Even though the later seasons weren't as good in my opinion, I still watched them, and not really a fan of the spin-off series. I've watched some of the Law & Order SVU episodes, and a few Criminal Minds episodes with my parents, but just couldn't get hooked enough to keep watching.

  • Evening Steve.

Loved your abattoir 'joke' earlier Joy suits your SOH.

We've never seen any of those shows either - where the hell have we been? We do like Traffic Cops and Police Interceptors, real life stuff, and have even seen where we live featured which adds spice xxx

  • Stacy, Negan was one of the best characters.  The actor who plays Negan was also in 'Supernatural' my favourite of all time show.

  • Do you want the updated 'counting sheep' dream?

All I get is 'lamb chops' they don't even jump over the fence, just lie there in a pile.
