Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Mr Tesco has been and we've been for a walk (5,000 steps) while the weather is good.

    Our heating is on!

    Stay warm.

  • Love the user name JonS, makes me wish I would have picked Ygritte or Mother of Dragons for my name on here. We could've had a little group of Game of Thrones fans on here! LOL

This is also my first time posting on this thread, and sadly I'm also a member of the no sleep club. I can relate to the endless all night long brain party, and for me I'm filled with endless anxiety, dealing with various issues with pain, and I can never get comfortable when I try to sleep. I seem to only get by with a series of short cat naps during the day and night, so the exhaustion never really goes away... It's hard for me to watch a new movie or TV series without falling asleep here and there, and then I feel lost as to what's going on. My family and friends just love it when I start asking questions about what I missed as we're all still watching. Smirk

  • I sometimes have times of not being able to switch the brain off, I start to sing in my head & that can help.

  • Hi.

It's terrible isn't it lying awake all night.

I've managed to sleep ok these past few nights but previously to that no sleep.

Hope you have a good day

  • Hi Stacy

Sorry to hear about your pain & sleep issues. You've come to the right place for mid-night conversation, well all day actually.

Maybe we can help with the bits of TV you miss.

  • Hi

That would be great a Game of thrones club. Id definitely be up for thatBlush

I also like you am filled with anxiety, especially for the future.

I worry about my kids. I'm a mum of two older teens. My husband and everything.

I'm sorry you are feeling like this wish they're was a miracle sleep pill !!!

    I've tried meditation

    That works sometimes.

  • Hi all

Has anyone got any recommendations for TV shows. I feel I've watched most of them.

    Thankyou Blush

  • We're watching The Brokenwood Mysteries on U, have you seen it?

  • Hi there Stacy, and a warm welcome to another newbie, which is great!

I looked at your profile sweetheart, and my goodness what a lot you've been through, although I'll add you sound so positive. Massive well done to you as you're an inspiration. There are many on the forums whom I tell my OH about when he gets down, and yourself and JonS have just joined the ranks. Thanks girlies xx

Now we've only recently got Sky and Netflix, so have never seen G of T. If you two would like to start chatting about it, maybe I'll get a taste of what I've been missing and take a look. Or maybe I've missed too much? I did pick up on Mother of Dragons, as my MiL IS a dragon!

Fingers crossed you can get your pain management sorted out, as that, along with a lousy sleep pattern, is a definite no no. I've got a tried and tested sleep trick that works for me, but is a chocolate teapot for most.

Anyway, great to see you here and drop in anytime you get the urge, as there's usually a few of us around. Big hugs on their way xxx

  • Hi Kez and I agree with you about how cold it's getting. Maybe we're in for a cold winter, which I honestly don't mind, though most won't agree as they're sensible.

Do you live in a cold part of the country? Here in Yorkshire it's usually colder than in the south, but our Scottish friends bear the brunt. Our good friend Sian (Dub) lives in Portugal, so gets year round warmth. I don't reckon I'd cope but would you enjoy a much warmer climate, and if given the chance, where would you choose? I'll bet a fair few here would head abroad like Sian did. Hugs Hugging xxx
