Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Can't stop laughing now!

Jeez, those girls could have been Biffa Bacon's sisters!

I remember Elland Road used to be (can't think of the word)...  I remember once being pelted with bricks driving away in a mini bus.

I really hope Leeds do well this season, the first back up is the hardest.  Is Daniel Farke still the manager?

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Hi Steve.

After rumours swirled Farke was getting the boot, he got a reprieve and is staying, well until the results turn sour.  Very fickle, TPTB when it comes to managers.  (I refuse to call them coaches.)

Sounds like you had some fun in the mini bus getting pelted with half charlies - were you thinking dirty Leeds, perchance?  Hey, the worst place I visited was Maine Road.  The surroundings were pretty rough but the folk were rougher.  We'd gone with our mate's cousin and he warned us to keep our traps shut.  We did but still wore our scarves.  I think he was scared for his Mini, parked up in a side street. Have you ever been to the Moss side area of Manchester?  Don't!

Yeah, I like the Jimmy Ruffin number, but his brother, David, has got a superior voice.  Walk Away from Love is divine imo.

  • One of my brothers went to university in Manchester in the early 80's, he wandered into Moss Side, and he said he was followed.  Nothing happened but still, unnerving.

I think Middlesbrough's old ground, Ayresome Park was the worst experience.  We had a police escort through the streets, while a mob pelted us with things from the back lanes.

When we tried to get out of the way we were charged by P****** on horseback.

I finally stopped going to matches in the 90's when it was getting 'silly prices' to get in.

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Same here.  We got priced out too, and it would cost £100 + for the afternoon.  Shame really.  Oh, for the old days - match day programme, under three quid through the turnstiles and a swig of pop (shared) at half time.

Righto, I'd better get cracking as we've got clinic this morning!

Have a smashing day, Gill xx

  • My hubby is also a lifelong Leeds fan, as are most of my family. Although I hail from the area, I'm a Wolves supporter, basically because I did my degree in Wolverhampton, and used to go to all their matches, even some home reserve games! At that time, the entrance fee was £1.50 !!! That was to stand. When it became all seated, I gave up going to games. Half the fun was in jumping up and down to get the circulation back in my feet on freezing saturday afternoons! And shouting at the ref....

    Ah, those were the days.....

    xxx Kate

  • Hi Kate,

I'm with you on standing on the terraces rather than sitting down.  We used to love it, despite our feet being numb with cold, as we could wander around to afford a better view of the pitch.

Nothing wrong being a Wolves supporter, albeit coming from good stock, as you choose your allegiance, no matter where you're from.  My dad couldn't get why I supported Leeds - he'd say I should support Bradford City, being a born and bred Bradfordian, but I was hooked from the first time I stepped foot in Elland Road.  As for shouting at the ref - we were permanently engulfed in a blue haze if decisions weren't going our way.  Halcyon days...

Have a good one, Kate, Gill xx

  • Gill, see the new fixture list for the premier league, Newcastle are away to Leeds on 30 August.

... and we all know what the referee was...(Erm...a canny bloke???)!

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Lol! Aye, canny, though but.

I can think of many words for officials but better not do that here. I'll save em up for the pre-season against the other Manchester side.  Yeah, I noticed the Newcastle fixture too, should be a good one - wonder if the Bacon girls will be there?

Talking of which, I loved Viz and would kink with laughter.  My lass bought me an annual years back and I still read it, for the Top Tips, of course...

  • I'm sometimes a bit of a 'Johnny Fartpants'

  • Hi guys,  it's been great catching up on the last couple of days, oooh Puddock I remember a day out at the match, travel, admission, pint, pie and programme for less than £10, and getting The Green Un, on the way home with all the results in it, which seemed like alchemy, I may have still gone to a few matches after the kids were born, but they almost trebled the prices, so went to my local rugby league team, The Don's, instead, no abuse, threatening behaviour, being charged at, dodgy flying objects or swinging sticks and that was just the police,

Absolutely nothing wrong supporting Wolverhampton, any team not on the wrong side of the Pennines is fine with me, and surely it's compulsory to share your views of the referees," in a honest way," after all they were never honest and forever victimising our poor teamGrinning.

Viz was fab, but not being a man of the world, I'd been with my partner since day 1 literally, a lot of the Geordie humour escaped me, lol,

    Eddie xx
