Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi

Can I try to help you at all? I’m a Community Champion, which means I’m a volunteer for Macmillan and our role is to try and direct new members to the right place for help and support and also help keep the community safe for everyone.

I’m really sorry to see how distressed you are, but I’m finding it difficult to be quite sure what is happening for you.

The forum is anonymous, so you won’t receive emails from other members unless you have given out your email address privately to anyone? We cannot share email addresses on the forum as it’s against the guidelines. Are the emails from Macmillan?

  • Jann, I agree with you my friend, none of your posts have been offensive in any way sweetheart, so I know it's difficult, but try to ignore these people who are saying these things about you, and keep posting on here to your friends, who care about you, and are here for you my friend

    love Eddie xx

  • yes they are from "Macmillan"

  • gosh aren't you just the best xx

Had a reply from Macmillan - need to check emails for spam ( in a tin when I was young !)

What a support you & now Macmillan xxx

    Ye me thinx bed time

    Try again tomorrow

Thank you for being there - my head is in circles xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Hug received and thank you Sarah Hugging and thanks for helping Jann, who's having a bit of a time lately. She's explained about her stroke, leaving her with memory lapses; this also happened to LOH and caused a fair bit of confusion for us both at the time. I didn't get time to reply to you this morning, but I was thinking of something more indulgent than walking sticks for a treat! Hugs back xxx

  • Ok…the Macmillan team manage the forum, and are different from those of us who are volunteers in the community. We do not know anything about contacts between Macmillan and members and do not see them, so you would need to reply direct to any email you get from MacMillan to try and clear this all up. Could you do that tomorrow?

  • never given email address out but now its 12 messages from people in the Forum

not sure what is happening - some of the messages come from friends in the Forum -Recognise their names but have not chatted with them

    OK Jann xx

  • I don’t like to see you have a bad day Gill, but we all get them sometimes and I find a hug really helps! We call them a bosie in the north east of Scotland-a warm and loving cuddle from a friend.

I’ve had a stroke myself, and I know what I am still like with my memory and some confusion and it’s upsetting. But my litter grabbers have been used multiple times today and my new sticks-though I forgot where I’d left them a couple of times today! Joy
