Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • It's Eddie's birthday tomorrow Kate. I'm 99% sure of it so I'll burst into song then. Earplugs at the ready! xxx

  • That's good...I've been early for once!

  • Awww thanks Kate, your a day early, but thank you for your birthday wishes my friend, and we're about 30 minutes from Tromso, but we'll have a wonderful time there. Sheila's felt a little off earlier today, but's fine now. I hope your busy day was due to enjoyable things my friend.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Hi Eddie

Yes, my day has been busy with nice things. First, my gardener came so we got on with some tasks in the jungle! Then a woman came from a community apple project to pick the apples from my tree (no, I don't eat apples much) and then I got an invite to a free meal this evening!  All the volunteers at our drop-in cafe were invited to try the new evening food menu at the community pub where we work. I hope they have some interesting veggie stuff on the menu!

    Love to you both

    xxx Kate

  • Hi Kate, that sounds like a lovely day my friend, and lucky you having gardening weather, so that will be more trips to the recycling centre?, and a well deserved free meal too, was there vegetarian options, and how's your lodger doing, I think you said, it's their home time soon. We've had a lovely evening with our friends and having an early night. I hope your both doing ok.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Hi Everyone but first and foremost

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDDIE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
I hope u are all singing that now, if you are awake!  Gill, you should have asked that taxi driver if he needs glasses. The way you take care of your OH is second to none and in my humble opinion makes you beautiful inside and outside!   Kate, that sounds like a busy. Day and I hope it was finished off with a really good veg meal! Eddie I am so pleased Sheila felt better just before you got to Tromso and you are having a great time with your friends there and resting when you can!

Hi Friendly 1, A warm Welcome and to others whom I haven’t had a chance to say hi to yet. I’ve just read 3 or 4 pages back but now when i tried to reply to a few posts, it won’t allow me to change the page!! Arrgh! So Friendly1 you are the only name on this page I don’t know, YET! It is very easy to let your imagination take over and think all sorts of things!  We never think of simple things it could be, like a strain or pulled muscle, so the best thing is to tell your Team and get it checked out. Then you will know for sure and they can deal with it!

I’m sorry but the other post I was reading was also from a new friend on here, I’m sure you will know who I mean when I tell you Gill thought Eddie’s chosen name for you was a good one. Anyway, I would go a long way to see my trusted oncologist but fortunately I don’t have to, but Eddie is right (on his birthday too! lol!) If you have a trusted oncologist, quite a few of them have clinics in various places so it is well worth asking if it is possible to see her somewhere else! Hopefully I will see your name again and welcome you properly! Hope everyone eventually gets some sleep! Then enjoys the weekend!

    Love Annette x

  • Good morning to our Night Owl Number One

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Eddieeee - Happy birthday to you.

Many, many happy returns to our Star Man xxx love from Howie and Gilly xxx

Hope that didn't shatter too many eardrums.  Thank you for your kind words Annette, but the taxi driver has been reduced to an annoying memory and done with. I hope you're doing as well as possible and keeping Vince in check!  It's starting to get nippy now, so keep yourselves cosy up in Scotland and enjoy all the tasty fare on offer.  One of my favourite memories when we'd go on holiday there, was when my mam would go to the bakers every day and buy two dozen morning rolls.  So soft and moorish, I'd chomp all day on them, filled with butter or marmite, and that'd do for me.  I've never found any here to compare but Scotland's a bit too far to tantalise my taste buds of old.  Not forgetting ginger Edinburgh rock!  Wonderful xxx

A warm welcome from me too, Friendly 1. Wise words from Annette, and I'll heed them too, as every little twinge these days has me imagining all sorts!  But I hope you're managing ok my friend, and drop in here as often as you can, as the folk are amongst the finest you'll find xx

Well I hope everyone has a great day and take good care all.  Lots of love and hugs xxx

  • Hi Friendly 1, I'm so sorry you find yourself here, but welcome to our friendly family, as Annette has mentioned; we can feel very vulnerable at times with cancer, which puts our minds in a negative state, making it so easy to think the worst, some cancer treatments, like my RT, can have an impact on the bones, temporarily, as can relieving pressure on them by removing or shrinking a mass near them, until things settle into place. But you should always let your team know any concerns you have my friend.

    Eddie xx
