Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Awww Gilly, you've been given duff information, I'm definitely 60yo on Saturday, ask Steve Stevecam , we've met, he'll probably say I look 80yo lol. Oooh a cake, fab, black forest gateaux is my fav, but no kirsch. You too have a lovely weekend my friend.
love Eddie and Sheila xx
I love black forest too, any cake actually. Hey Eddie, here's something to cheer you on the age front. This morning I was asked by the taxi driver if I was LOH's mum, and that's the THIRD time on three separate occasions. Now I ask myself, do I provide such wonderful care, and that's why everyone says how well he looks, or is it that this last year has destroyed any looks I once had? Could be a combo of both, but I steadfastly avoid mirrors, shop windows, kettles...
Anyroad, the sun's gone in here and it's cold, so fingers crossed it's a darn sight better in Norway!
Love to you both from a youthful looking LOH and the crazzled old boot xxx
Thanks Steve, that's really nice of you to say my friend, as I have been reading your posts on Brian's thread, and know how, a little of you are at this time, as I've been through something similar, I think WW will be a great help to you as she has so much experience. You can do this my friend. Sheila and I went to Tromso last year, and I collapsed at the hotel on arrival, just exhaustion, and the hotel nurse looked after me for 2 days, and we became close friends with her and her family, we had them stay with us early this year, and their kindly putting us up today, Tromso is fab my friend, well worth a trip, and Sheila sends you her love.
Eddie xx
Happy birthday Eddie!! Have a wonderful day.
I got a couple of hours sleep but agreed to do some painting with my 3 Yr old nephew this morning and didn't want to let him down. He's broken his leg so is very bored at the moment bless him.
The family atmosphere at the dinner must be amazing! Im so excited to be a parent one day. That's another thing me and my partner are going to have to navigate in the future to avoid passing on the gene but regardless family is the ideal dream for me.
I'll speak to my oncologist about moving hospitals again the problem ive got is if I move to another hospital I won't have her and I feel safe with her it's a catch 22.
My GP have said they can start doing my line flushes as they are closer to home which helps.
Last night I was in a bad headspace and I just want to thank you both I know we didn't exactly talk much but I don't know how just having these few messages with you guys have really helped and I hope you don't mind if I continue staying in touch. Is there a way I can send you guys pictures of the animals if your animal lovers they are so cute!
Awww Gilly, your my favourite crazzled old boot, and welcome to the club, and it's pouring down here my friend, so more skin damage coming lol, and many a time when I took my mum and older friend away I was asked which one was my wife , seriously caring takes so much out of you, and your doing a wonderful job, giving your all, so you do neglect yourself, but it reminds you of what's important, and I for one don't get hung up on appearance, though thankfully my love Sheila, is all I'll ever need regarding a partner as I know your LOH is to you, and I wouldn't fancy dating, luckily I've never had too. Just put the gateaux on the Doncaster train and I'll collect it at this end, and yes you can both have a slice.
love Eddie and Sheila xx
Ooh, I wish I could send you a real gateaux, minus two slices, as that would be fab. Thank you for your kind words Eddie; the stress has taken its toll but I wouldn't have it any other way, and LOH appreciates me just the same as ever xx I don't care what I look like these days anyway, and the taxi driver is a drain on the NHS, refusing to administer his son's care and leaving it all up to the nurses. He spotted H's trache and said his young lad's got one but won't touch it. That's when he asked the mum question.
Well I hope rain doesn't stop play Eddie, so enjoy seeing your friends and don't let me weather spoil a thing. Love to you and Sheila xxx
Awww hi sunflower, thank you so much for your birthday wishes, we're getting a little wet, but what a beautiful place to get a soaking, and it's good you managed a little sleep, and how could you not keep your promise to the little fella, I'm sorry he broke his leg, but I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time with you.
What a wonderful thing to look forward to, having kids is the best thing that ever happened to me, my eldest daughter Mandy is 53yo this year,"I'll explain later," and my other kids are 41, 39, and 37, and the grandkids are aged 16 down to the twins at 6 months, so get togethers are fab my friend, and you have it all to look forward to one day.
It's your choice my friend, but I would always put an oncologist you trust and are comfortable with above having to travel a little closer. Have you asked your oncologist if she works out of other hospitals, as my team comes to my local hospital once a week, though some treatments still require a bit of a journey.
The emotions you are feeling are perfectly normal, we all have them to some degree, as is broken sleep at times, so that's what the forum is for, for advice and support, a place to rant, let off steam, for a proverbial hug or shoulder to cry on, and to chat about anything you like, we are serious when needed but do like a laugh too, and your always welcome to post whenever you want my friend, Me & Gilly would love that, as would the other guys on the forum.
I use a Samsung galaxy phone, so let us know what you use and I'm sure someone can show you how to post pictures.
Eddie xx
No cake , maybe next year
, or maybe sometime in between, who knows, and your welcome my friend, I'm all to familiar with stress, as I've looked after 5 family members with cancer and know how it consumes you, which is why I say to everyone caring for a loved one, you must put aside a little time for yourself most days to switch off and recharge your batteries, as it will help you be the best carer you can be.
The taxi driver is a dick, better to just forget people like that my friend, he's all the character of a wheelie bin, and how could LOHs and your love for each other not grow, your perfect for each other.
Sheila's, a little off today, well she's older than me lol, but she wants up for lunch. I have my uses.
love Eddie and Sheila xx
Hi again Sunflower. Isn't that a great name Eddie's given you, and you post away any time you feel like it, as there's usually someone here to chat to about anything you like.
Tell you what, I'm eagerly waiting for photos of your animals, and I always share them with my OH. He doesn't post but I tell him everything the guys and girls here do, and he's chuffed that I've found lots of new friends, as his cancer can be pretty isolating. I'm no techy so can't help much with posting photos, so I'll leave that to the experts.
So anytime you're up for a chat my lovely, and feel free to join in with others' conversations too, as the folk here are the friendliest bunch, bar none. Big hugs xxx
