Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Poppy will need a forever home one day, I can put you on the list, it's a long one, and you wouldn't be favourite, xx

  • Hi Eddie. Yes, we're going in the morning, complete with brand new walking stick, courtesy of Peter the physio.  He's a smashing guy and did us a big favour today with another matter.

I've told H to concentrate more on his upper half, as Jenny lets those with walking difficulties sit down to take part. I always join in my friend, but will probably help LOH until he's mobile independently again. And hopefully some dinner in the hospital restaurant after xxx

  • Put me on the list, but hopefully that's for way into the future Fingers crossed

  • Hi Gilly, soon be bedtime, we'll good on you for joining in the exercises, but completely understand when all your efforts must be aimed at LOH, but enjoy dinner at the restaurant, how posh is your hospital, we have cafes and canteens, I'll be rooting for LOH, to regain his mobility and a degree of independence soon, best wishes to you both XXX

  • Thank you Eddie xx After seeing Peter today, LOH has been much more like himself and I'll explain more by PM tomorrow. Now you get some sleep and I'll try too, as we've got an early start in the morning.

Thanks for the lovely photos of Poppy which I shared with H - he had a Jack Russell, Shandy, when he was a young lad. He still sheds a tear when we reminisce. I love big softies.  Night to you and Sheila with hugs xxx

  • Sleep well my friend Xx

  • hello from the south east, sending big hugs and healing thoughts to everyone, im aways awake and have been on this journey since june and only just finding this thread. what a great idea. thinking of you all - H

  • Hey H, and a warm welcome to the group.

I'll come clean and tell you I really should be trying to get to sleep, but find it hard to resist welcoming a new member.

Do you like animals, as many on here are huge lovers of them? Just a thought to get a conversation going, but I'd better not do my usual thing and start rambling.  Over to you xxx

  • Hey,

I love animals, ive recently moved back in with mum on the farm so she can be there for me through chemo as its hit hard. We have donkeys horses dogs chickens and our most recent addition is a kitten.

She beautiful and been my bested little buddy through all this she's nearly 4 months now.

How have you all been? What pets do you have?

  • Aw how wonderful, to be surrounded by all those beauties, and a kitten to fuss over too. Bliss.  Oh we'd love to welcome a little pet into our home, but it can't happen - too many appointments and sometimes off to hospital at really short notice.  With no-one to take over we couldn't leave one on its own, not knowing how long we'd be away. Hopefully in the future.

I was born on a farm, many moons ago, and my best mate lived in one too. We loved helping with the animals and, of course, fussing over the calfs.

So you're in the south east then? Are you near a big city or out in the sticks? Hey, well done with your chemo and I hope you're recovering from it ok, as it can be a tough journey my friend xxx
