Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • We certainly don't want him!  Poisoned chalices aren't our bag, so no thanks.

I hear the Bacon Sisters are shining their boots for the upcoming clash - can't wait cos we should be able to watch it live after Sky fudged up with the installation. xxx

  • How are you today hon?  Any plans in the offing for warming the motorhome up yet?

I'm good thanks. I'm tackling my diabetes figures now I'm over 3 months from chemo finishing, they went up slightly but I'm getting them down again so biscuits are now off the menu!

The motorhome will be taking us to France/Germany for a month on 1st September Grinning

We're getting our son & DiL sorted with camping equipment at the moment as they've bought a tent so they're "borrowing" some bits from us.

    Hope you’re both OK.

  • Morning Eddie.

Aw, Wonky sounds cute, although Ant and Dec got in first; remember Wonky Donkey? I'd love to have him but I've thought of a better idea - how about Jane?  She's had an awful time and when she finally gets her new home, Wonky could grace one of her walls. I'm sure he'd love his new home and a new mummy.  What do think?  I've already put his picture in my album.

Good luck with the banks and stuff.  I've had a carry on with them; due to OH not being able to use the phone and no local branches, they keep asking if I've got PoA.  I've managed to sort things so far with them, but waiting for DWP to grant me as his official appointee.  I'll go from there when that's sorted.  Strewth!

No, nowt planned for today but off shopping in a bit.

Happy anniversary!  Enjoy.  And the new watch and phone.  It's all going on.

    Love from us xxx

  • Morning Geoff, and thank you, the donkey is genderless at the moment"a little like me", lol, and not a problem spelling my name wrong my friend, and I'm sorry you too have difficulties laying down to sleep, it's a pain in every sense of the word, I am waiting for a referral to see a specialist on pain medication as other than paracetamol, I can't take any other pain relief due to heart issues, so hopefully we'll find something, have you anything on for today?.

    Eddie

  • Thanks Helen and yes, we're both ok.

Shame about the biscuits, but you know what you're doing to keep the diabetes under control.  Well you've got a lovely holiday coming up soon, and you do so right to take every opportunity to get off.  Make double sure to enjoy every second xxx

  • Sorry you're having lots of pain Eddie. I also don't have much luck with pain meds other than Paracetamol as they all give some sort of side-effects.

I don't often have any solid plans as I never know how I'll be doing on a particular day. I'll do something to get ready for my trip (hopefully) to St Barnabas tomorrow. I've just finished editing a new video for my Youtube channel too, so I'll upload that and do some admin related to it.

My side pain is quite bad still so that stops me doing too much. Have a good day Eddie.

  • Gilly, Wonky donkey, was the theme name of the art group this month, and that's a lovely idea for Jane to have it, I'd be happy for her to have it. Awww Gilly, why is it the more difficulties you have the harder they make things for you, and thank you RE our  anniversary, I believe we're going to the Yorkshire Bridge Inn for dinner, my favourite pub. Is that a food shop my friend?, biscuits seem to be a popular discussion on the forum lately maybe you could buy a few varieties then give us your expert opinion on which is the best.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Then Wonky it should be. I feel so much for Jane as we had exactly the same when my mam passed, but none of the selling difficulties. I'm sure it will make her day and give a much needed boost. Lord knows she needs one.

Yep, a good shop and I'll be scoping the biscuit aisle as Home Bargains have a tasty selection.  And multi pack choc bars.

Enjoy your dinner and have a smashing day out.  I'll be eager to know what was on the menu.  Hey, I checked out aphantasia; do you really have that?  I couldn't cope without my mind's eye as I always imagine what folk look like if I've never seen them.  It's one of my quirks.

Love to you and Sheila xxx

  • Thanks  Geoff, I was wondering as you also have issues with pain management, have you considered  CBT and ACT., I've found them very helpful in reducing the amount of pain I feel and with non of the side effects some pain meds come with.

Can I ask, is that St Barnabas in Lincoln or Gainsborough?, and wow your own YouTube channel I never knew we had a celebrity on the forum, I hope today's a good one for you, and good luck for tomorrow.

    Eddie

  • I haven't heard of ACT - Oh is that acupuncture? I don't think CBT would work for me if I'm honest, but no idea about acupuncture. Luckily for me, I don't usually have much pain any more so it isn't something I need to look into, for now at least. This current pain is hopefully short term from when I fell over a week or 2 ago. I twisted my body as I fell, so I was told, and it feels like some sort of muscle pain. So it should sort itself out, although it is taking it's time.

The St Barnabas is in Durrington, West Sussex. I live in Rustington on the south coast, also in West Sussex, and St Barnabas is about a half hour bus ride plus 5 minute walk away. I didn't realise until the other day how easily I could get there, so I'm very lucky.

Oh I'm no celebrity. Teehee. I only have 173 subscribers, which if you know anything about such things, is as good as nothing. I started it around 3 years ago but got frustrated as it was a lot of work and I barely had any interest from people. So I gave up, but then around the start of 2024 decided that I missed it, and I really should get back to it and think of it as something I'm doing for me rather than for others. So I ordered a new wireless microphone that I would have needed, but before I even used it once, is when I started to feel ill and lacked energy to the point I was barely able to do a thing. It was a few months from that point to when I was diagnosed with cancer in July 2024.

Anyway, as part of trying to get on with life and keep me occupied, I decided to give Youtube another go. I haven't been back at it long but it does keep me busy and keeps my mind off all that's wrong with me. I'm also trying to get back to photography and other videography for stock (please ask if you don't know what that is), as that was what I used to do to make money. So far I'm having to stick quite locally but I want to travel as soon as I'm up to it, both for my stock work and Youtube.
