Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Ah well done Debs. Something tells me it could be a while. Not to worry. Are you going to take Dani's advice to put your mind at ease? I've got the opposite problem, having to prise everything out of H - problematic either way. Any plans for today or taking it easy.  I've done everything and just waiting for Sky. Thank goodness it's cooler and the swelling in H's chops has gone down quite a bit. I'm in top mollycoddling mode for my poor lad.

  • Hey Eddie, have you got a busy schedule today? I honestly don't know where you find the energy!

Anyroad, we were watching Calendar yesterday teatime when our ears pricked up at the mention of our town. They're wanting to build almost 200 houses on what is brownfield land - for decades it held ironworks, scrapyards and an asbestos factory before it was all cleared and grew into fields. It was once again dug up and building started in earnest.

It was reported last night that locals have started an action group since asbestos dust is everywhere, and many are now using inhalers and are attending hospital with chest complaints. The Lyon Confectionery (Midget Gems, Poor Ben's) is just over the road from the site. We live several hundred yards up the road from the Lyon but I'm starting to worry -  this stuff gets everywhere!

The planners don't give a monkey's, just as long as their pockets get lined. I worry about my OH, as his lungs have been compromised since his op!

  • It’s all greedy developers round where I live in South Somerset. It’s mainly one firm that have been responsible for ruining the town. When they chopped down all the trees and shrubs to make way for houses all the wildlife moved into my garden which I was happy about.I’ve got a house viewer coming over shortly and two more on Saturday. It’s another humid day here.Love Jane xx

  • Love the pics.

I think I sleep better as there's no pressure to get up and do things like at home. I didn't get up until 7:30 this morning! We like Henley-on-Thames, it's one of our favourite places to visit. After the last year I'm determined to get out as much as we can.

  • Hi Jane my lovely. Oh my fingers will be tightly crossed for a buyer - it would be so good to get things sewn up before Christmas or thereabouts. It took me just under three months to get everything done on my mum's house sale and everything else when she passed, so I hope you get a good result too.

It makes me seethe over greedy developers; no concerns for wildlife, people's health, nothing! We've had so much round here, and it's turned a once pretty town into an awful landscape of lost fields, crammed with soulless new builds.  Grrrrr!

By the way, you've provided some lovely support for Pippa - so kind when you're going through tough times yourself.

Loads of luck on the house and big hugs xxx

  • Jane, I got you muddled up with Puddock for the support. Sorry about that xxx

  • I did write to Pippa too xx

  • My brain's gone somewhere else - getting old. Joy

  • It's talking to me Gilly, it fries everyone's brain eventually.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Lol. No, it's not you Eddie - it's because something happens almost every day to put a spanner in the works. Today it was Sky. I won't bother with the boring details; suffice to say the plonker last week, who assured us everything was hunky dory, omitted to say he'd also failed the job. So no Monday night footy to watch as we'll have to wait at least another week.

I did ring and complain, in strident tones, and was told I'd be compensated for their muck up. It's par for the course... I'm waiting for tomorrow's exicting event with baited breath.  Aaaagh!

Normal service is now resumed. Hope your day went well my friend xxx
