Hi,
My Dad is currently in hospital after being admitted on Boxing Day with chest pains. He has advanced prostate cancer. The drs are suspecting his pain could be in relation to his constipation. He has recently lost his appetite very suddenly and they thankfully didn’t find any blockages so have suggested his lack of bowel movement could be psychological. I’m also wondering if his loss of appetite is also in relation. Does anyone know if it is possible to see any kind of food councillor for support with such issues?
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that your dad is currently in hospital with chest pains and also has advanced prostate cancer.
I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post this in the prostate cancer group as it's a great place to share experiences and get support from others who have prostate cancer. If this is something that you'd like to do then just click on the link I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here.
I've found this information for you on how cancer can affect eating, including a section on how your dad can be referred to a dietitian.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
