Hello all
I have just been diagnosed with bladder cancer and awaiting my appointment for addenbrookes surgery, one of my seemingly many problems is a stinging pain in the area of my tumour
I had a TURBT operation 3weeks ago but they found it had grown through the wall into the muscle so now I am on the list for a cystectomy
Where the tumour is I get a sharp stinging pain, like a hot needle being poked into it, in my mind I fear this feeling is the tumour growing into my muscle,
Has anyone else experienced a similar pain and know what it is
Many thanks
Hello again,I was in intense pain before my cystectomy. My tumour was a few cm thick and caused an obstruction.I was either urinating every few minutes or unable to pass any.I also picked up a hospital acquired infection which took 3 lots of antibiotics to shift.I was so relieved to get the bladder removed and be pain free.It all seems like a horrible nightmare now 6 months later. Please free to private message me if you want to.What type of bladder cancer do you have ? Love Jane xx
Hi,I’ve sent you a friends request, you just need to press accept and then we will be able to write privately.love Jane
My tumour was 29mmx31mm and on my left side, didn't obstruct anything, I have been on antibiotics and painkillers since January this year, was hoping after surgery the pain would go, as it hasn't lightened up I assumed it was a lot worse than they thought, I was right, it's now a big job time, it's just this occasional stinging pain, I wondered if it's the tumour growing through my nerve endings, not a nice thought but can't imagine what else it could be
I hope your pain will be gone when you have the cystectomy. The friendship request seems to have gone through so we can write off the board as well.Love Jane xx
Cystectomy in two weeks, yey!
So many questions.
How long does it take to be dry at night, how do you hold that muscle while asleep, can i get by on interrupted sleep, do i need a potty under the bed, can i catheaterise to sleep through, is cycling still possible?
Hi,
I went through bladder cancer a few years ago now, and have been clear since 2016.5 going through 6 years of ops and treatments for that and other things assosiated with it, however i kept my bladder intact, i didnt have a cystectomy so cant comment about that.
However i dont think i slept much for about 3 years to be honest, having been told early on to my affairs in order, i was waiting for the inevitable, but as luck would have it i seem to have survived for now at least, i survived on very interupted sleep, and after 6 months returned to work, it affects different people differently, as friends of mine who also went through very similar treatments were skiing only a few weeks after their ops! and seemed totally back to normal.
I did continue to cycle but found i got tired and out of breath quite quickly, and also continued to ride my motorbike for some sort of escapeism and pleasure.
I didnt have a problem with staying dry at nite at all as far as i can remember, but that was never part of my problem, however i wish they had forewarned me about how painful the initial half dozen wee's would be post catheter removal.
I wish you the best of luck, and hope all goes well for you, if i can answer any of your many questions you must be having please dont hesitate to ask.
Regards.
Pauli
